Amos you do yourself no favors by resorting to the anti_semitic card.....I havent seen it on any posts on here.exodus wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:47 amWell to simplify it they took half of Jerusalem which started it.
Look back to the 1967 war and read all about the background.
Neither side is blameless in all this, but right now as per my previous posts The Leadership of the Palestinian Authority has to get a grip etc. I won't repeat it all yet again.
Look, if so many forum members are anti-Israel and refuse to accept all that, then I have to say (with much regret) that it is starting to look anti-semetic. I hope that is not the case but I am not so sure in all cases.

Re: Jerusalem
I can clearly state that anti-Israeli policy is simply a political view and nothing to do majority being Jewish and you demean yourself by saying otherwise. I have said on here that I support the principal of Israel as a Jewish homeland etc. I don’t support all their policies. I do know they are under pressure from terrorism and from being surrounded by Arab states, many of whom hate them. That’s why they’ve had universal support for their position through wars etc. If they showed more compsssion towards non-Jews, the state would receive much more support.
Re: Jerusalem
Quite. It is COMPLETELY irrelevant, and very insulting.
Nobody is saying Israel is entirely to blame. Everybody, you included, seem to think that both sides are at fault.
So to say that we are criticising Israel because we are anti-Semitic is just daft. Israel could be Buddhist for all I care. We are criticising the ACTIONS, not the belief system.

There are two ides to every debate, in this case clearly views are held very strong on both sides.
Both sides, me included, have had their say. Non participants must judge for themselves which side they agree with.
There is a risk this thread could degenerate into a slanging match, so I say let's leave it at that.

It hasn't degenerated into a slanging match, and with respect it isn't up to you, to decide when the thread should stop.exodus wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 12:45 pm There are two ides to every debate, in this case clearly views are held very strong on both sides.

You carry on. We shall just have to agree to disagree - I have nothing more to say on it.

Re: Jerusalem
This is part of the reason why Israel doesn't get the sympathy it thinks it deserves!
From today's Daily Mail.
"Israeli troops shot dead a wheelchair-bound man with no legs in Gaza today as three other Palestinians were killed during protests, medical officials said.
Another 150 were hurt as protests over US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital enter their second week.
Disabled Ibrahim Abu Thurayeh, 29, was taken to al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City after being shot by troops but was later pronounced dead.
Abu Thurayeh, who had previously lost both his legs, was shot along the border east of Gaza City in the north of the Palestinian enclave, the Palestinian health ministry said.
It came shortly after another man nearby was killed in similar circumstances, they added."

Re: Jerusalem
If you read that story it says he was wearing a fake bomb belt. If that is the case then you cannot blame any soldier, policeman, or indeed civilian, anywhere in the world, from shooting them if they had the opportunity to do so.

Re: Jerusalem
No, sorry. If you go around wearing a fake bomb belt you should expect that sort of response from any sane person with a gun.
The simple solution to that one is not to wear a fake bomb belt.

Re: Jerusalem
If you read the article carefully it wasn't the man in the wheelchair that was wearing the fake bomb belt although if you look at the titles of the pictures you could be led into believing that. Typical DM loose reporting. It was another protester in another location.
Notwithstanding this, if, in Israel, a protester goes around wearing such a fake bomb belt or something that looks like one then you can only expect what you get. One gets the impression that it is part of Palestinian propaganda that such protesters are killed in order to stir up sympathy for their cause. The Palestinian side loses a lot of legitimacy when it reacts to such events by launching rockets willy-nilly from Gaza but I must say that most often Israeli side reacts totally out of proportion.
As I said before they deserve each other.

Re: Jerusalem
Any Idiot wearing a fake Bomb belt needs to be shot pronto, but the guy with out legs is in quite a few photos wearing just a T shirt, and he wasn't wearing a Belt,,,,was it necessary to shoot a man in a wheel chair?.
Re: Jerusalem
I can't see anywhere in the story where is says this guy was wearing an explosive belt. There is mention of another guy wearing one, but not this guy. He is sitting in a wheelchair wearing a black t-shirt.
Re: Jerusalem
Look, in Israel we have had children dressed with bombs, and not fake ones. Every day almost our people are being attacked and threatened by these animals. Animals is what they are, out to destroy all traces of the Jewish State.
Sometimes difficult for our police and security staff to tell if a person or child is a threat or not.
The Palestinians do this often to gain sympathy for their cause.
What cause? Our destruction that is what.
You cannot negotiate with such "animals".
Amos.
Re: Jerusalem
I would also call Israelis who shoot and Kill unarmed people in a wheelchair with no legs Animals, spare us the moral ground lectures, the Israel army have nothing to be proud off
Re: Jerusalem
Good post!
Having read the last post from exodus, he seems to be suggesting that Palestinian children are animals.
The more I read, the closer I come to the conclusion that the Israeli army policy is, if in any doubt, shoot to kill and just ignore the criticism afterwards.
I appreciate that Israel come under attack, often by simple weapons such as stones (but not always), but what about the attacks on Palestinians. There is no way I can consider a proportional response to stone throwing to be sending fighter jets with missiles!
It is clear that the differing opinions on here will not change and I am aware that exodus has consciously avoided my questions about Israelis bombing schools and hospitals, shooting children on the beach, shooting Turkish aid workers and so on, other than to go back to the "we get attacked on a daily basis" argument, which is no answer to those questions, so I guess there isn't really any point continuing the thread.
