Quick Links: Is it my PC??

Post by exodus »

When I logon to the forum I usually click on Quick Links and then "New Posts".
If I then read a new post, and then click my "back" button wishing to view the New Posts again, I am taken to the Board Index.
So I have to start all over.
Is it me, or my PC, what am I doing wrong,I just want to be able to read more than one New Post in succession?
Amos.

How very odd, I cannot see "New Posts" without first clicking on Quick Links.
I hope some IT guru can enlighten us!
Thank you anyway Memory Man,
Amos.

I never log out - why do you need to?

I have a bookmark set for PL thus
search.php?search_id=newposts

I just click on it and away to go ... :)

Sorry, but what does logging out have to do with it?
Whether I have logged out, or stayed logged in, same problem.
Or maybe I am missing something?

If you are viewing New Posts, then logging in or out plays a very big part. New posts refer to the posts that have been made SINCE YOU LAST LOGGED IN.

So, if you log out then log back in again, the new posts will only show you posts created from that point on.

Personally, I think New Posts is over-rated. I much prefer UNREAD POSTS, or even ACTIVE TOPICS.

Unread posts refer to posts you haven't yet looked at. This can get quite large though, unless you use the MARK ALL AS READ option.

Active topics is probably the most useful. That just shows which threads have been posted on in the past week.

Oh and you and MM have different forum templates, which is why you have QUICK LINKS and he doesn't. You are better off sticking with the one you have though, Exodus. It is more modern and works better on tablets and phones.
