Anonimity
Anonimity
Apologies to all, my name is not Mark.
My posts are sincere and reflect my beliefs, but I am paranoid about my anonimity and exposing myself (and my family) to the problems that can occur with the WWW.
Am I right? Or do others disagree?
Not Mark, but someone who still wants to post his/ even her views.......

Re: Anonimity
I don't see a problem, it is just an internet name you use.. As long as you are OK with people addressing you as Mark, it will work like any other forum name..
Trev..
Re: Anonimity
I don't think anybody else cares. But unless you've got a pretty unique name, how would anybody else actually know who you were anyway? I am sure I cannot be the only Dominic in Paphos.
Seriously, don't worry. I mean don't worry about what name you want to use. Use whatever you want.

Re: Anonimity
I agree with the above, your user name does not have to be your own name it's just what you want to be known by ................ there is nothing underhand as far as I am concerned!

I'm PaphosAL coz I've been there 34 times or more since 1988, and booked to return mid-Feb 2018. Can't wait!
But my real name is AL (Alan) and I have no probs with sharing that info on the boards. Maybe if you used your real christian name AND surname as a handle, you could likely expose yourself to some of the low-life bottom-feeders lurking around on the net, though...
Cheers- AL

Re: Anonimity
Whats in a name, Mark, Bill Tom Dick or Harry, if you post your first name there is no way anyone could trace you, the owner of this forum will have your email address, I have been using the Internet for over twenty years, my name has been posted with my email showing on my old forum (CL) for fifteen years, I never had any problems of note, certainly none that I could not handle with no problem, I see no point in hiding your name but if you feel you must then so be it, not sure why you asked to be honest.
Jim.

What is in a name anyway? My real name is Amos, but I use Exodus as my user name.
Amos.

Re: Anonimity
I've never agreed with Forums NOT requiring the persons name. To my mind it just encourages some people to be rude or aggresive to others on the forum. Sure we can disagree, but I don't think someone who disagrees is likely to come & firebomb me or my car!
Re: Anonimity
I like being known as Bograt. It makes me feel at home...... And anyone who actually does know me will know that nickname anyway
.
As long as people are polite and respectful on here, I don't mind what they are called. With Dominic in charge, nobody gets away with being rude, so all is good.
