I note that you have installed classicshell, was it all straight forward ? I dislike 10, and am having difficulty finding my way around it, if I install classic shell, will it look like 7 immediately ?
Yes, it was straightforward ... I think

I don't really remember, but I think I just went to http://www.classicshell.net/
pressed on 'download now' and just followed the instructions.

I don't remember any catches, but maybe keep this to hand ...

and perhaps this

Good luck!

Right, so far so good, the only other gripe I have is that when I click the explorer icon on the tool bar, I get a picture like the front page of a newspaper, saying where to now, I would like to get rid of it, can I ?

Explorer icon?

Do you mean Internet Explorer the web browser, of Windows Explorer the file explorer (that can also be accessed by pressing the windows key and the letter E together)?

Where exactly is this icon?

It's an E, which I take it is Internet Explorer, but then again I could be wrong ! Also does the back arrow work for you ? because it doesn't for me most of the time.

Sorry, I'm a little confused now.

Wait a minute, maybe the E is Microsoft Edge, the new browser that comes with W10
I've never used that so can't comment ....
I use Firefox mainly and Google Chrome sometimes - also have Safari and Opera for occasional use

Found 'Edge' now and opened it up and it does indeed say 'where to next' (surely the answer in Firefox!!! )

So .... if you want to keep using Edge .... top right are three dots
click
scroll down to the bottom
settings
click
scroll down to the bottom
advanced settings
click
home button = on
next box select 'a specific page'
then in the next box select the page you wish to be your 'home page'

That should be it ... hopefully. :)

Oh my, thank you for that, now I'm really confused, never even heard of 'Edge', but I'll follow your instructions, and see what happens. :?

All went well until the last stage, then I couldn't find 'a specific page', guess I'll just have to live it, unless I can exchange Edge for Firefox.

Thanks for the help.

I've only just finished migrating my PC's from Windows XP Pro to Win 7 Pro. I still have on PC on XP but lots of downloads now require Win 7 to work, so much as I prefer Wndows XP, it has to go! :x
