Sunshine Radio
Sunshine Radio
I just read this on facebook and thought it worth sharing here:
_____________________
Sunshine Radio
I have just joined PEGS to put those interested in regards the current status of Sunshine Radio in the picture.
Mr Sandy (Beech) Preston is no longer a director of Sunshine Radio Ltd, the controlling company.
Both Ms Nicola Gibson and myself are newly appointed directors and have been shareholders since the company was formed.
There are currently technical and legal issues which we have to overcome before we can take full control of the output of the station. It is unfortunately not quite as simple as flicking a switch!
Technically Mr Preston is still a major shareholder in the company however after we meet with the licensing authority, companies house and legal council this may change.
Regards lack of communications from myself or Nicky, We have been impeded in our takeover of the station and so all we can do is offer our sincerely apologies to all our advertisers. We will contact each of you personally as soon as possible.
I am the original founder and licensee of the station and would like to thank you all for your support of the station and our advertisers throughout the past 3+ years.
We already have new and familiar management in place but I am unable to give a time as to when a formal switchover will take place, possibly under a completely new brand.
I'll be happy to answer any questions or if you prefer feel free to message me privately via Facebook Messenger.

It was also pointed out on another thread, that the mother of the children affected is also a 40% shareholder.

Re: Sunshine Radio
Having listened to various discussions on this subject , I believe what people want is a reassurance that Mr.Beech will not benefit from the future activities of Sunshine radio. As the statement says Mr. Beech is a major shareholder , but “This Might Change in the future”. This is not a witch hunt , and only Mr. Beech should be concerned about reputations.
Re: Sunshine Radio
Apparently victims famililies are involved in the station, so any boycott would affect the station. Allowing the perpetrator to be worked out of shareholding would assist the others. It takes time as they’ve said (from Facebook)
Re: Sunshine Radio
I hope that this will get sorted out in due course. Paphos is a small place, but of the 2 radio stations here I much prefer Sunshine so really hope that it will continue.

Re: Sunshine Radio
There are plenty stations available, which you can also receive in Paphos, but all of them on the net. I for example listen all day the forces radio BFBS on the internet and outdoors with my little portable radio.

Re: Sunshine Radio
Radio stations live by the number of listeners they have...people have a choice as to what stations they listen too....rightly or wrongly this odious man will be associated with this station.
Re: Sunshine Radio
I disagree. Most people just want to listen to something catchy on the radio, when all is said and done. I don't think anybody stopped watching the BBC because of Jimmy Savile.
From what I read, the mother of the affected kids is a 40% shareholder in the company. So switching stations would just cause them further grief. I am sure if she wanted people to stop listening, she could easily issue a statement to that effect. Until that happens, I think it best to assume she wants the station to continue.

I agree with you Dominic, but you cant compare the BBC with a local ex pat station, where Im guessing alot of its listeners knew the man, I just hope the family can move on and good luck to them for the futureDominic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 11:01 am I disagree. Re: Sunshine Radio
Hudswell is talking about discussions going on on another forum, I think. If you want to join in that discussion, do it on that forum. It will get far too confusing if the conversation splits between two places.
Besides, none of it will help the mother and kids. People seem to forget that.

Re: Sunshine Radio
I agree with what Dominic and Hudswell are saying. The voices of moderation. I hope that the station will continue, it is successful (as far as I know) and hopefully Beech will be disassociated with it when the shareholders and managemebpnt are sorted out on a business footing.
I can't get the internet in my car and enjoy listening to it when I am driving locally... it is a local station with news that often applies to Paphos and I like the absence of sometimes inane chatter if listening to the other local station.
I also hope the Peyia Medical Centre will continue as it is a great facility for those who live in Peyia. If it closes people who work there will presumably lose their jobs.

Re: Sunshine Radio
Just out of curiosity, where on Facebook? There's nothing on the main Sunshine radio page.

It was posted on one of the numerous Paphos groups. If you look he says in the post: PEGS. It has been posted elsewhere too, but that is where I saw it.
