When do you put your Christmas decorations up?

Now that it is officially a month before Christmas I thought it safe to ask.

A few days after the 5th of December (in The Netherlands we celebrate St. Nicolaas on that day. A lovely celebration for children).

St. NICOLAAS ..... the original Santa Claus or Father Christmas. We have spent many Christmas's in Belgium and Holland. Everything happens on Christmas eve. Presents, family, church at midnight, party. Then, on Christmas Day ....... nothing. Maybe a walk with the family in the morning stopping of for brunch of hot chocolate and waffles. All back to normal by the 26th. That is how it should be done. Same in France and Germany. Seems only Britain chooses Christmas to last from 10th September through to 6th January.

A neighbour has had the tree up for a fortnight already.

Decorations in our house? Some go up on the 23rd with the tree being dressed on the 24th.

Usually the first week of December then down and away the first of Jan, always glad the hype is over and look forward to spring.

Do you mean important things such as the price of a vacuum cleaner at Lidl, or the quality of your wife's tea, for example?
