Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
I was really cross to read in the newspapers that last week a group of Israeli citizens had been deported back to Israel from Larnaca airport because when they arrived from Tel Aviv they told immigration, when asked why they had come over to Cyprus, that they were going to participate in a poker competition in the "north".
This is not the first time this has taken place. Earlier this year a similar Group WERE eventually allowed in after they got our Embassy to intervene.
Israelis are allowed into BOTH sides of the divide in Cyprus. We have friends from Tel Aviv who live in the "north" and have residency there, just like we do on this side.
Why do the Greek Cypriots allow everyone else who is not Greek Cypriot to cross over into the North?
Why are they discriminating against Israelis?
Absolute disgrace. Those "Job Worths" at the airport should be reprimanded.
Amos.

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
Because most of the Hotels in the north are stolen property and it is illegal and against the law of the Republic . they are not discriminating against Israelis?.because other countrys nationals have been refused entry....but stealing land and property dosn't seem to worry Israel/Israelis

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
I very much doubt if Israelis are being discriminated against. In fact, I'd be more inclined to believe they are favoured in Cyprus, because of the pacts between both.
Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
"But stealing land does not seem to bother Israel/Israelis" Are you really going to allow this racist statement from WHL to stand Dominic?
Disgraceful and I think Amos deserves an apology.

Try reading up on the illegal land grab illegal building by Israel before trying to grass someone up.. pathetic

I'm not grassing anyone up! I repeat you have made a horrible, sweeping racist statement as you infer that all Israelis steal land. I repeat disgraceful and you should apologise to Amos.

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
Thank you Poppy for your kind comments.
I would rather not comment on WHL's comments, other than to say my point was that Brits (for example) are allowed to cross over to the "north" and stay there in Hotels. Russians and Germans too. So to stop Israelis to me IS discrimination.
Stop everyone, or stop nobody.
Amos.

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
Why an apology? He is right! Israel has been taking land that is not theirs for decades and continues to build settlements on land that does not belong to them. The comment cannot be racist if it is factually correct.

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
This thread is NOT about Israel, it is about how GC Airport Officials treat Israelis.
However may I draw your attention to posts I have made in other threads praising GC Immigration for the smooth and polite way they handled our application for residency here.
Clearly there are just a few staff at the airport who need (I will phrase it politely as I can) some re-training!
If you want to debate my Country etc please start another thread, and I will be happy to participate - provided it is not anti-semetic.
Amos.
Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
I'm sorry Amos but I really cannot let Bands comments go. BAND the difference is that WHL said Israel/Israelis thereby inferring that all Israelis steal land. If you cannot see that then you are as bad as him and Amos deserves an apology from you too.Israelis are the most persecuted people in the World. In accordance with Amos' s wishes I will not comment on this thread further.
Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
Some points:
1. This thread is NOT about Israel.
2. People shouldn't generalise about about an entire nation. I've told people off before for doing that about the Cypriots, Russians, and Brits, and to be frank WHL, when I have done, you have tended to give a thumbs up to my posts. So don't make sweeping generalisations about people from Israel. If you think it is wrong to make sweeping generalisations about Russia, UK and Cyprus, but OK to do it about Israel, then you are being racist.
And no, I am not going to get into an argument about whether Israel is a race or not. Look the word "racism" up in a dictionary.
Now, from the article, it appears that anybody non-EU is not allowed to land in the South and stay overnight in the North. These holiday makers knew that, yet chose to try anyway.
It would be nice if this didn't end up in the pit, so please people, stick to intelligent debate rather than petty name calling and mud slinging.

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
You are correct about generalizing, maybe I worded it wrong, I meant to say Israel isnt bothered about stealing land that dosnt belong to her, so her citizens probably are not to bothered about using stolen Hotels, the thread went down hill when poppy jumped in trying to have a pop at me ..... as you mentioned the Israeli's were told by their Embassy they would be refused entry before they set off, but chose to ignore it, other nationals have been turned away also so it isnt an anti Israel thing by the Republic.Dominic wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 5:34 pm Some points:

Re: Deportation of Israeli citizens from RoC.
The Israeli citizens were told by your own government not to travel to the occupied areas, they chose to ignore that advise, and were sent back home, why do you blame the Larnaca immigration?exodus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 4:50 pmThis thread is NOT about Israel, it is about how GC Airport Officials treat Israelis.
