Yes I can see it from our house, but I would like to see it with the sails up.

Much better impression: breakfast at Anassa Hotel?: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3743

What would the Cyprus economy do without the Russian money?

Some people have described this as ugly, but I think it looks very striking and sleek. I hope it's still about next week, as I'm over from Saturday.

Suppose I should actually be calling it "she", so apologies to the boat/yacht thingy. And no, I don't know anything about sailing....

It was moored of the Anassa hotel for all the time we were out (not at the Anassa I may add). They would drop off people onto the beach most days with the little launch that has been designed especially for it (you can see it in the second picture). It looks like a brick and appeared to float like one too, it just looked so ungainly. Its also a bit of a landing craft and has a platform at the front that can be dropped down, it was always followed by a dirigible.
However, we were sitting on the beach in Latchi and it came out of the harbour and opened up, it sounded like it has twin Merlin engines and went like S**t of a shovel, most surprising.

Ugly and sinister are what it looks like to me. Like something out of a James Bond movie where it would be owned by a villain. What's it doing in these waters anyway, I wonder. It seems to be concentrating on the coast between Paphos and Latchi....
Wonder what sort of high tech gizmos it has on board...

HIC, goodness knows what he is here for, I was just speculating... mid Nov is getting quite late for holidays don't you think? Anyway, the Russians are obviously paying a lot of attention to this area and willing to spend millons on property and business deals... which is giving them a lot of influence.

Yes, all that's true. But probably the reason which there are more tourists around this year is that the CTO and the airlines have got together to provide more charter and ordinary flights, where previously the season finished at the end of October when the summer schedules became winter ones with a lot less flights. Also the new airline Cobalt isrunning 2 x times a week direct service from Paphos to Moscow at good rates, I think.
Fortunately, the weather is still holding up and lovely blue skies and sunshine draw tourists here! Win win situation!
But at the same time the island and Paphos in particular with no desalination plant at present, will soon be in trouble with severe lack of water. We must pray for sustained rain this winter to help re fill the reservoirs!

Everybody to their own taste......that’s has NO taste!!! maybe a rich mans toy but it’s certainly doesn’t float my boat
It’s a very strange time of year to be sailing around the coast in November certainly not my choice but each to their own whatever they might be up to???

Or perhaps to extend the one at Latchi and to upgrade it? Which would make more sense! Potima Bay the site for the fabled Paphos Marina is a dangerous stretch of coast line. Very rocky, bad rip currents. Whenever there is any wind the sea there looks angry!
It may cost mega bucks to just put in the sea defences to make it as safe as possible for boats trying to make for it in bad weather..

I must say I think she is an absolutely thing of beauty and have really enjoyed spotting her over the last few weeks. Wish I could have a look on board.
