Cyprus move a step closer to being part of an integrated European defence policy

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal for Cyprus' participation in the permanent structured cooperation (PESCO) mechanism, an EU tool aiming to increase defence cooperation among member states....

Makes sense for a small country like Cyprus to join.

One of the reasons many people in the UK cited for supporting Brexit. For some reason, we balked at common defence sharing....

The UK isn't exactly pulling it's weight in NATO.

Nato appears toothless.... it gets into conflicts far too late, isn't involved in cyber or other terrorist crimes, that I know of and has been corrupt in areas like the Balkans previously..... so I'm afraid you're comments on a European force are ten-fold on Nato. The United Nations peacekeeping are even worse...
