Passiflora incarnata - Purple Passionflower

Post by PhotoLady »

I've been waiting for it to flower now for a few days, but this morning it's gloriously sunny (but cold) and the sun is full on the front of the house.

As I went outside to see my mum out from picking up her birthday present, I spotted the first flower.....
My husband is terrified of it, he thinks it's going to grab him by the throat as he passes by it to the front door :-D

We've got loads of them. The bees and wasps love 'em. I think they are amazing. It is just a shame they don't produce any fruit.

I fell in love with it when I saw the photo on the packet plant a few months back.... my husband said it was a "flower of the devil" but he still let me buy it ;-)

I think it's gorgeous and can't wait for the rest of the buds to open up :-)
