Utterly disgraceful bully boy tactics by the trade unions. They do this any time the Govt is trying to modernise the EAC and make it more efficient. The Govt also want to allow other companies to be set up to offer a choice to consumers.
The troika wanted all the national utilities to do this. CYTA was forced to do it when they had to submit to allowing other phone companies to compete with them.

If the present situation in UK with privatised companies running the utility supply industries and charging customers what they want (with profits going abroad) without any meaningful control over prices is anything to go by, I would not like to see such a development here in Cyprus. Yes, if at all possible, a more efficient nationalised service but I don't see the possibility of competition in the electricity supply industry here in Cyprus.

Not sure that the Troika has the best interests of Cypriot consumers at heart as opposed to wanting foreign companies to come in and raise prices and milk the population.

Yes, competition in the UK market was a complete farce. The only people who benefitted were the ones running the price comparison sites.

Ha Dee :) , just as the bus driver had a strike this week, why well they had not been paid for some time, the strike is over and they are back on the busses, the working man has only this tool to try and arbitrate a settlement, that has always been the case, the devil is not usually in the Unions hands how would you react if they stopped your pensions?.

Unfortunately, those who have never needed a Union for help would never understand and they don't, but do not decry those who have had to fight their corner, Dee.
