More dogs stolen, woman arrested

Post by memory man »

A RESIDENT of Paphos reported to police that at some point between Monday and Tuesday afternoon unknown perpetrators stole two metal cages containing 10 hunting dogs from a village in the Paphos district. According to the owner the dogs are worth € 5,000 in total.

A 26-year-old woman from Paphos was arrested in connection with the investigations on Wednesday, however, denies any involvement in the case.

Just this Tuesday the Animal Party urged dog owners to keep their dogs in their homes rather than in cages away from their residences which facilitates thefts.

The party said there has been a recent spate of dog thefts. In total, 52 hunting dogs and purebred dogs have been reported during stolen the last few months.

Is this the woman that rescued those dogs that’s the tourists had taken photo of in cages that were starving, rancid food covered in faeces with a dead dog left in one cage plus remains s of bones and fur????
The village being Kioli ..............

Yes, that’s the same one. Absolutely disgraceful the way those dogs were left. The owner should have been arrested not her & how can he prove he’s the owner as the dogs weren’t microchipped or registered!

Really! I never heard that. He also said they’re worth €5000 but if so why leave them in that state!😡

Absolutely heartbreaking photos of these poor animals. How people can get away with such cruelty is beyond me.

The link isn't working anymore.
We used to live in Koili village, just up the road from us was a dog in a cage on a piece of land, it was too far away to throw food to it and the perimeter was fenced, any way some time later the dog was dumped at the end of the street at the collection point for the bin men, it was horrible, probably died of dehydration/starvation or something.
We had to pay €25 per year for a dog licence with Koili council, even though our dog was registered/chipped etc with the government vets office.
I wonder if any of these missing dogs were registered the same.

Thanks, exactly, so the arrested lady has a case against the owner, if needed

What a load of bollocks,
The so called owner claims the dogs were worth 5000 Euro,NO to him they were worth nothing point proven just by they way they were kept.
Scum like this owner and all his family should be taken out and put in the same cages with the same conditions and just left to rot and die,and that goes for all who abuse and are cruel to animals, including ALL those who are supposed to be in a position to stamp this kind of thing out but in fact do NOTHING.
Well done to those who found the dogs in the first place and brought this to the attention of everyone else, well done to all those who have taken the time and effort to rescue and hopefully help these animals have a proper life.
How many more are out there that we do not yet or will not know about?
How long will it be before the spineless, gutless, tossers with the power to do something about this actually do something.

This is the life of most hunting dogs in Cyprus kept in cages/underfed/hardly any exercise .........then when they don’t work in the hunting season they a thrown out to fend for themselves at the end of the season ........mentality NIL 😡
