The Paphos General Hospital today

Had to get my four monthly prescription today.Dropped wife off at the front to register whilst I parked at the rear,never seen that car park so full at the back of the hospital.Met wife outside Dr.Maxim,s room,straight in and got another four months prescription.
Wife went for her flu jab,I went to collect items from the pharmacy,met wife outside flu jab room and back to car.
The whole process took......20 minutes!
I remember in the old days this process could take up to 3 hours.Cannot fault it.

We only ever get 2 months supply on a repeat prescription.

I must admit I have had 2months prescriptions and 3 months ones.. I have been given 4 months but on two prescriptions, meaning I have to go back after 2 months and just pay for labels for the prescription book.
Well done Tonee for getting through so quickly....

Now if only they could organise Orthopedics

Like you I get 2 x 2 month prescriptions. I get 2 mths worth of pills, but then I can return to the General to register and collect medication from my 2nd repeat prescription in due course.

Our Doctor would give us a double prescription for 4 months MM. This meant that after the first two months we had to go back and register, pay our 3 Euros and put the sticker on the previously written prescription thus negating the need to see the Doctor. I think this is how when you are waiting your turn to see the Doctor you will find some numbers missing as it is people who have just got their 2nd prescription stamped.

In the UK it takes that long to find a parking space.

MM just ask your GP, I have had 6 months supply, if you only need pills not a consultation or further treatment just ask for more than your two months.

Re parking, I have no problems parking at 6am! then sit outside with a coffee and watch the sun come up also with a sea view, where else in the world.

I have never been unable to park somewhere at Paphos General though sometimes I may have to walk further! At least the parking is free there, unlike at my local hospital in the UK which has a machine in its car park which issues you with a card as you come in. When you leave you go to another machine which takes your card and calculates how long you have been there and the cost of it. Your ticket must have been paid and stamped before you stop at the barrier on the way out and put your ticket in yet another machine before the barrier is raised again...l

Yes hospital parking is expensive, most unfair too, if the department you are attending is running late, ( which is more often than not ) you have to pay more through no fault of yours.

It's laughable here at Hereford General when you visit A & E, you're expected to purchase a ticket before going in, and estimate how long you will be parking for. So you can bleed to death whilst after finding a free space, you stagger to the ticket machine to peruse parking charges, next you have to find the correct amount of money, purchase your ticket, and return to your car to display said ticket, lock it and approach A & E entrance, only in the UK ! Not forgetting that all of us should ensure that at all times that we have sufficient coins to feed the machine, just in case

I would not dream of driving to my local Luton & Dunstable Hospital, a mere mile away from where I live, due to the exorbitant parking charges there. Instead, I try to walk there.

Sod's Law dictates that that day it will be pissing down with rain, with a stiff 20 mph southerly gale straight in my gob, whilst struggling uphill, suffering from COPD and Emphazema. I keep stopping, pausing for breath, looking over my shoulder to see if a passing motorist can help me with the last leg, but never happens..

Our local L&D Hospital even charges their own over-paid Admin staff to park in their nearby cctv protected admin-only car parks. But they are too tight to pay the charges!

Result? Virtually empty hospital admin car parks, with nearby residential areas (like where I live) crammed full of cars, Mon-Fri, 8am to 6pm! Driving out of my estate in my little Corsa is like a slalom course... These crass idiots think nothing of parking in a spot that prevents a fire engine or refuse collection / Delivery lorries getting through!

Al, yes my Daughter is a midwife, she has to pay for parking too, you couldn't make it up, Admin can be late for work, she can't. She also has to pay a large lump sum to re-register every year, so that she can practice.

That is one good thing about the hospitals in Cyprus. As far as I know non of them charge for parking.
I don't think I have been to any of them where I have not been able to find a space..

You are correct Al, cars are abandoned all over Paphos General, were a fire or similar break out, emergency services would be hard pressed to gain access, particularly to the rear

Perhaps a nominal parking charge would help. Charging to see doctors certainly reduced the queues!
