Question for Weather Watchers.
Is it just my bad memory or are the evening temperatures lower than previous October's? We are always here from October to December and we never put a fire on until early December just before we go back to the UK.
I can't help feeling it will be a lot earlier this year. Or maybe it's just us getting older!

Re: Question for Weather Watchers.
Ratty this weather is normal for late October, it is cooler in the evenings but no cooler than the previous years, I certainly have not needed to run any heating, in fact we still have open windows at nights, again this is more or less normal temps. And yes I am getting older.....
sitting in my backyard on my laptop in full sunshine, try that in the UK

I haven't put the heating on yet Jim but just feel that it is colder in the evenings than I remember from previous years. I know some people keep temperature records and I hoped they would post some information so I don't have to rely on my memory!
Re: Question for Weather Watchers.
TBH, I thought it was a lot warmer this October than it usually is over the years.

Ramone
I know our memory plays tricks on us as we get older that's why I was hoping for something in writing! Someone posted that earlier that we didn't have any rain last October. Personally I do think it is cooler in the daytime as well but it is the evenings I am noticing the most, Pat

Re: Question for Weather Watchers.
Thank you very much MM. I have had a quick look and it seems that this October is warmer than last year, if I am reading it right! I will study it in more depth later. Pat

When the clocks alter you will feel the difference... Always feels chilly in Cyprus especially in the morning at the end of October but that extra hour makes all the difference for a few weeks afterwards.
We're still sleeping with the bedroom, the bathroom and both conservatory windows open here in UK. It's a glorious sunny morning and the birds have been going mental on the various feeding stations in the tree in our newly created back garden.
Life is good but looking forward to some lighter mornings from the weekend. We have a very early taxi pickup in a few weeks to meet the coach for our trip north of the border to Oban.

How does the alteration to the clocks affect the temperature? The day is still the same regardless of the time.PhotoLady wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2017 11:53 am When the clocks alter you will feel the difference... Time is a man made invention, weather is nature.
True that the days are getting shorter and the nights longer, therefore less heat is retained. Also, it is winter.

Ah, Trevnhil, we live near Paphos but it's our 14th winter here so we're getting prepared early!!
Re: Question for Weather Watchers.
I've a great problem. I have weather records going back more than 10 years. Earlier this year, I bought a second weather station (different make) and I found temperature anomalies, comparing them: they matched perfectly at night and when there was no sun but I found temperature anomalies between them with solar radiation, even though the temperature sensors were inside what I thought good shields. Some errors on my old (expensive) station have turned out to be as high as 2.5°C in the summer.
Result: my records over the years are all very iffy. I'm starting again from scratch. I cannot give a reliable answer to the question.
However, I think October has been pretty average up to now, but I still cannot offer accurate measurements. I was hoping to get a Stevenson shield to get accurate temp measurements, but they are very expensive (more than the cost of both weather stations put together!)

Also prepared for the cold weather Kansas, because it's the time of year when temperatures fluctuate and sometimes it can feel cold, only to be mild an hour or so later in the evenings. All part and parcel of fending off the chills, hot sweats, sore throats etc. that already seem to be affecting some people in the Paphos region.

Morning all.
All of last night as I know because I spent most of it awake was warm and humid, never dropped below 20c this time of the year on Cy can be like this, you never know what to wear when you venture out, low clouds to the west and the odd flash of lightning (Pafos area) , maybe in for more rain later...

Simple. Let's say at 7AM it is 15 degrees cent, but at 8AM the sun has warmed it to 20. The clocks go back, and it is now 20 cent at 7AMWilliam Morris wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2017 12:01 pmHow does the alteration to the clocks affect the temperature?
