Coastal path lights?

A while back on here I commented that I thought that the lights along the path were rubbish when we walked it last year and the year before. I even had email communications with someone from the Municipality saying <<Your email has been forwarded to the Technical Services of the Municipality for further action and as soon as I have an update on the issue I will let you know.>>

Someone told me a few months ago that they had been renovated/fixed and were now fully functioning.

We walked out to the Kaso Beach Bar yesterday evening. We were going to go along to the little white church, but the weather looked a little unpredictable! (Little did we know what was to come!)

We walked back around 6.30 pm in the pouring rain and it was quite dark and no sign of any lights ... apart from the hotel lights.

Does anyone know what is actually happening with them?

I'm not sure exactly where the Kaso Beach Bar is from the harbour, but your reference to the 'little white church' presumably means the one on the beach which is reputed to have been built with money from a certain well known solicitor?
I walked along this path as far as the white church afew weeks ago and we noted that new lights were on along side this stretch of the coastal path. But it may be a money saving measure if they are only switched on in the main tourist season when there are more people out in the early evening enjoyed slightly cooler conditions as the sun sets. Or when there is some special event on, such as evenings when a film was being shown on the beach.

We were going to go for a walk last night, but were rained off. We had a lovely coffee at the Kaso Beach bar, near the Imperial Hotel, which we drank in the car, watching the wind whip up the waves and the downpour.
Walked today from the Luna Park to the beach bar. I think you would be relying on hotel lights as far as the Imperial, and then the new lights for the rest of the way to the harbour, but have not walked it in the dark.

The land adjacent to Penelope's Church has been cleared and some work has been started. Whether this is in preparation of continuing the path and putting in lighting, I do not know.

Wonder if the shallow trench may have something to do with the Antiquities Dept? There are so many potential sites of interest to Archaeologists in the area around and between Paphos and Gereskipou. The problem comes when plots of former agricultural land are sold for potential development and the archaeologists decide to excavate some of it before it can be built on,just to get an idea of what may be burried there. When land is under concrete it us usually too late to excavate to find out what may be burried in that area, be it human or animal remains or grave goods.

The land on the two photos is church owned and subject of the argument between the church and the Dep.of Antiquities concerning the large Hotel complex planned there, from foreign investors like Marriot Hotels.... in the Press since years....Nothing to wonder about.

Thanks for that information Max. Usually the areas are completely cordoned off when a dig is taking place. This area was cordoned off with metal piles, some orange tape and water bottles on top of the piles.
It definitely looks like an archaeological dig now. Today's photos.

On the subject of lights, I do not think the lights along the front have been switched on. We had a coffee at the beach bar and left at 6:30pm and the new lights were not on. At the car park, there are still piles of the concrete seats and light fittings. Some of the concrete light fittings that are in place have no wires attached.
