Is the tide finally turning?

Given that you haven't been called such terms on this forum, it would be nice if you leavers followed suit. Besides, it was a weak gag when it first was used, and to keep on using it a year later shows a real lack of imagination.

Err, probably because unlike the others I mentioned, I have never watched it!
So, the solution would be not to say that the BBC is biased, but to watch a different program. Given the availability of iPlayer et al, you can hardly miss it. Be warned though, it quite often features Michael Portillo.

Oh dear Dominic. I put up 2 very popular prime time programmes as clear proof of bias, you put up one programme which is aired late at night and say there is no bias because this somehow balances things out? You didn’t even address the point about the 3:1 interview bias.

It’s clearly pointless pursuing the point with you.

If you want to believe that the BBC has for the last 16 months been strictly unbiased in their reporting (as their charter quite clearly requires) so be it.

Well not quite Dominic. We pay our TV license here in the UK for the BBC so I believe that we should expect them to abide by the rules. They apparently have a duty to be unbiased and I believe that it has been proven that they are not ( although they deny it) The allegations I believe are based on having an unbalanced table of speakers and unbalanced audiences.

You do make me laugh at times Royal. :)

Like, how you neatly side-stepped the issue about using the word "remoaners".

Here we go Dominic - the are Remainers and there are Brexiteers. There’s also another group - Remainers who have whinged and moaned and thrown their toys out of their cot over the last 16 months. They are the Remoaners. Feel free to pick whichever group you wish to identify with...

You are still avoiding the issue why you keep using the term on this forum. If the answer is "Because I can't stop myself" then fine, I understand.

Seriously though, Brexiteers?

I have also created two other sections: religion and philosophy. If people use them for weightier matters it will keep the main section lighter.

Johnoddy, as this was posted before the politics section was added, I am happy to leave it here, despite me being a Remoaner. However, if you would prefer it in the Politics section I will be happy to move it.

This is just one Dominic - there are loads more if you google

"The analysis by monitoring group News-Watch looked at Radio 4's flagship morning news programme Today and concluded that there was "overwhelming negativity" about Leaving the EU.

During the six three-hour morning shows from Monday 29 March to Saturday 4 April, Today fielded 124 guests on Article 50 but only eight, 6.5 per cent, were "given the space to make substantive arguments that the future for the UK outside the EU would yield significant benefits".

It also claimed that in the survey period BBC correspondents "displayed what can only be described as a strong common editorial bias against Brexit".

The report has added fuel to concerns that the Corporation has been covertly backing the continuing Remain campaign despite being funded by the taxpayer through the licence fee and having a duty to be impartial."

Context is everything. In those early days, I actually put a forum filter on which automatically changed the word remoaner to remainer. The joke was past it even then. I was using the term here in an ironic fashion.

Which suggests a new name for you: Major Misunderstanding. And Hudswell can be Corporal Clanger.

Now admitedly, they aren't very funny, but lets face it, neither is "remoaner".

PS

Not every Remainer is a Remoaner. Only those Remainers who continue to whinge and moan and throw tantrums because they didn’t get their own way, when clearly they are in the right and everyone else is in the wrong.

You’re either a Remainer or a Remoaner. Your choice...

Thanks for that Poppy. I agree it was certainly wrong of the BBC to be biased, one way or the other.

If the BBC is biased, it's wrong.....It is interesting that the left and the right both think the BBC is biased at election times....

Certainly, during the Scottish referendum, the BBC was incredibly biased...

As to bias on Brexit, I honestly don't watch enough current affairs programs to comment. I do watch question time and I think it is biased towards brexit in the audience mix, but I'm sure others might think the opposite - thats what happens with these things.
