Jackie correct, I feel even a chance this may prevent a dose of Flu is well worth the trip to our General Hospital, even if you have to pay for this at a Pharmacy just do it! do not listen to those who say don't have this precautionary Flu injection, I had a seven-week Flu some kind person gave me to know how bad this flu can be, do not take the chance especially if you are at a certain age.

I got the Flu in 2014 nearly killed me lungs and chest sore as hell for a month or 2 after it went. I was given that Tamiflu. I have had the injection this year and arm is sore for days after. Look at the strain that is coming it is Aussie flu and deadly. If you are old or have health issues take the jab.

My sister who lives in Sydney, had this Aussie' flu referred to in another post, a few months ago in their winter. She was ill for weeks with it, needed a lot of visits to her doctor plus a lot of medication before she finally got over it and it has taken her even longer to fully regain her health, so I considered that having this flu jab was a wise precaution!
Even when you have had the jab, I understand that it still takes up to 2 weeks before it is fully effective.
I only had a very minor reaction to it.

I think that the only people who can answer your concerns HIC and June are the medical profession. I would say though that one of the big news stories today is the increasing resistance to antibiotics which in itself is worrying. Certainly in Cyprus I believe that antibiotics are far too freely available as I could always obtain them easily from any pharmacist.

Yes, antibiotics seem to be easy to get, if you know where to go! Dentists prescribe for dental conditions, and Pharmacists also prescribe them. One of the problems with this is that sometimes you may be given the wrong antibiotic for your condition which doesn't work properly, so a visit to the doctor may still be necessary later...and possibly a 2nd course of antibiotics which happened to me on one occasion.

This is what I was trying to explain in my earlier post HIC regarding which strains will be protected by the flu vaccine. From general research it appears there are different types of flu vaccine available in different countries so it is dependent on where the flu vaccine has been manufactured.

Also there are trivalent and quadrivalent vaccines (Traditional flu vaccines (called “trivalent” vaccines) are made to protect against three flu viruses; an influenza A (H1N1) virus, an influenza A (H3N2) virus, and an influenza B virus. then they are going to be very ill indeed.With regard to the Aussie strain of influenza which is known to be very nasty there are other strains which are also equally nasty. However why we are all arguing about it I have no idea.I posted in good faith to try to help people . I really don't care if anyone has the jab or not.

I would NEVER have a flu vaccination! Have survived without one for nearly 80 years so no way I am putting that poison in my body just to make pharmaceutical companies even richer.

Does that apply to any medication as most of them are produced by pharmaceutical companies.

If the flu jabs are free, by having one you are not exactly enriching those companies. I hope you are healthy enough and lucky enough never to need such a jab, but NEVER is a long time.

Now that is a very good point.

Personally I would have no hesitation in having one. Our daughter is a different matter, because she was born with a ruptured spleen and her immune system is a bit temperamental as a result. But she's had all the jabs you would expect (MMR etc). If in doubt, ask your doctor. If you don't trust your doctor's answer, get another doctor.

Sounds like one of the few 90 odd year olds saying cigarettes have never done them any harm, gives other smokers a bit of hope.
