Firefox crashing

Post by Galini »

This is not really a technology question, more a general moan .... :D

Is anyone else using Firefox as their Browser and having the same problems with it crashing tabs every couple of hours?

At this rate I'll be switching back to good old explorer

It's called The Edge these days. :)

My wife likes it, but I prefer Chrome.

First thing you could try is disabling any add-ons and seeing if it still crashes. You should also do a full sweep with your AV software though. It could be that something nasty is trying to take control and that is the result.

I still have Firefox, and it is certainly not 'Edge', and I am having no problems at all.

Firefox have very recently released a new update... Can you check on the Firefox page that you have the latest version..
I would also run Malwarebytes and Ccleaner.

I meant Internet Explorer, which the Op mentioned, is called The Edge now.

Not being a pedant ...   ;)

Internet Explorer may have been superseded by Edge but the two are still available as separate entities.

I have Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Edge on my pc. I too have problems with programmes that open with Firefox which crashes almost every time. Has been happening for several months now. I assumed it was a conflict of some sort and haven't looked into whether it is updating automatically or not so I will check for that.

I have V56 - it did freeze this morning when on Facebook, but that's a rarity.

I use Firefox for business, running our website admin and sales, stats monitoring as well as our eBay accounts. I have 4 tabs which open automatically when I switch my laptop on and they're open all day until I log off around midnight.

I'm not experiencing any problems using Firefox. I'm using version 56, if that helps any....

I use Chrome for my social media stuff and Edge for news and forums viewing.
