Have you ever gone back to that old tube of silicone sealant, only to find that it has cured in the Cyprus heat ?
Well I did exactly that and decided to remove the cured sealant from it`s tube. As you can see I cut some discs about 8mm thick and used them as
anti-vibration mounts under a noisy water pump. The result was total silence. The pads have been in place for 2 years and are working perfectly.
The sealant was better value having worked in both ways.
Regards....Alan.

Re: Anything for a quiet life.
We're recently been going through our boxes that were in the summer house pending sorting after our relocation to UK following 12yrs in Cyprus.
We've found lots of stuff that has cured during a lifetime in Cyprus - I don't think we have any silicone, but I will pass on this little tip to my hubby, just in case!
Love that photo!

Great idea Alan! Thanks.
One could also cut a pair of smaller pieces and use them as earplugs - to quieten a noisy snoring partner.
...Or cut three pieces and stuff them somewhere else!

Wouldn't it have been easier to jettison the crap before you shipped it all?PhotoLady wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 4:08 pm We're recently been going through our boxes that were in the summer house pending sorting after our relocation to UK following 12yrs in Cyprus.

I had to hire a van for a week before we left the UK, and I took 12 van loads of crap to the dump. It was most invigorating, clearing house like that.

I think most people get rid of a lot of ''rubbish' when they move house.
But '12 Van Loads'.... That's a lot of crap you had

Some of it was crap we had brought with us from the last move 10 years ago and not yet unpacked.
But also, sometimes it is difficult to even give stuff away. Most UK charity shops run away from sofas these days, they have so many of them.

Re: Anything for a quiet life.
We sold a lot of stuff and gave tons of stuff to be sold by the Pound Dogs Limassol ladies before we left.
The stuff we have at the moment is what we're keeping and will go in the new and bigger shed but the panels have to be built before it is delivered for us to put together. That will be a couple of weeks time.
Mostly my husbands tools but we have some boxes of good stuff to sell here in UK where they will be much better appreciated as saleable items than in Cyprus
