Re: Christmas Lunch
Sorry but haven't made plans for Christmas. Maybe we will stay home for a lovely Christmas meal or go somewhere. Awaiting the nice offers from restaurants and hotels.

Re: Christmas Lunch
We're having ours at home in Polemi.
Other people may not have booked their's yet. It doesn't pay to recommend a place if you haven't yet booked your spot.
In general though, Christmas in Cyprus is lower key than it is in the UK. The decorations don't go up in the shops etc until December.
Last year we got to go tobogganing in the Troodos though. If you have kids they may want to know that.

Re: Christmas Lunch
Some people go to one of the hotels for Christmas lunch. I am sure someone on here will recommend one. We always eat at home. Some neighbours took a Christmas picnic up into the mountains and thoroughly enjoyed it.
For our first few Christmas's in Cyprus, we had all our neighbours round. It was organised so that one house had a party on Christmas eve, and then everyone in turn had a do. It worked out very well, until.......

We normally go to beach and have BQ ,but this year trying the farmyard restaurant up in Kathikas it is €35 for Christmas Lunch

Re: Christmas Lunch
I am one of the 84, but I don't live near Peyia so I don't know who is or isn't open.
We usually go to a local taverna, they don't advertise till Novemberish, Unlike the UK, Christmas doesn't start in October

Re: Christmas Lunch
Sorry. Personally Christmas lunch is about the least most important thing on my schedule at the moment.
If you want something near to Peyia maybe you could make enquiries at the Peyia restaurants and ask them who is going to be open. There can't be that many.
Re: Christmas Lunch
The negativity started with the OP who wasn't happy with the lack of response after 84 viewings, if people know they will give an answer.

Re: Christmas Lunch
Some restaurants in Paphos are already fully booked, mostly repeat customers from last year. Over the years we have eaten at some of the main hotels eg St George Hotel, Athena Beach Hotel, Crown Horizon and they are buffet style lunches, but not really an occasion to dress up as the tourists will be there in T-shirts and shorts! The Elysium and Alexander the Great have had good reviews for many years. So long as we are guaranteed proper carved turkey and Christmas pudding we're happy. Have had a few bad experiences at some of the smaller establishments that just cannot cater for a large number of diners for a special occasion such as this (eg delay in serving food, run out of turkey). However, they have all closed down or are under new management now.
Re: Christmas Lunch
Having gone out for a few years, we now stay at home on Christmas day, collecting waifs and strays on the way. The good thing about staying home is the cost, hotels charge an exhorbitant charge to eat in their canteen with their residents, the smell of Christmas lingering in the Villa all day long and a luverly Turkey sandwich for tea.
Have a good day.

Would highly recommend Petradaki in Kathikas. Have spent many enjoyable Christmas lunches there. They do get booked quickly though.
Re: Christmas Lunch
You will have a great Christmas, I am sure. And the lack of shop decorations before December actually makes the event itself more fresh. You aren't sick of it all by mid November. There are also Carol services down at the harbour, if you fancy a sing-song. Though there will be more info on that in December.

Re: Christmas Lunch
Agree with emgee regarding the cost of Christmas Day Lunch in some of the the big hotels but there are usually many places charging less than €30 per person (drinks not included).
Re: Christmas Lunch
What are the shops like for selling Christmas food? Is it easy to get stuffing and pigs in blankets?

Re: Christmas Lunch
Hi, I've lived here for 10 years and have eaten Chrstmas lunch at various restaurants in the Peyia/Chloraka area. It depends on your tastes, but in Coral Bay there is Lekanto and La Vigne. Annessi on the St Georges road was good, Sunset Breeze in Chloraka was lovely, ate outside in the sunshine 2 years ago,and last year went to the Farmyard in Kathikas for another lovely lunch. Most of these restaurants are taking bookings now and the price is usuallu around €25-30 pp, some may even be full, but I'm sure you will enjoy whichever you chose. As for the person wanting to know if you can get all the Chrstmas food, the answer is defintely Yes - not sure about pigs in blankets, but why not make your own??
