I cant personaly, but its probably a good time to buy one now, its cooling down a bit and these companies are probably not selling as many as before/during the summer. Don't forget to haggle, especially if buying more than one

We bought ours last year from Thermacool on the road up from the main post office on the left hand side. They may not be the cheapest but are very good. I think they stock mainly Mitshubishi and the cheaper Haier brand which have a 5 year guarantee I believe. We had the Mitshubishi which was excellent and very economical to run.

Large installer of air-cons is Green Air Paphos, which banner ads are on our PLife. They have a wide range of brands as Daikin, Mitshubishi,LG, ...
Best choice to save electricity are "Inverter" models.

Thermacool are listed in the directory:

I will add CMC as well. We bought a fridge freezer from them recently and it was delivered and installed within 2 hours of us leaving the shop.

Just wondering, Dom, but on such a quick delivery of a new fridge / freezer, do you simply transfer contents of old to new units?

What happens to the old unit? Do they take that away and dispose of it in an environmentally responsible manner?

I always understood that a new fridge / freezer (after being transported and manhandled) needed to be left for 24 hours in situ to settle, before even being switched on? Do any refrigeration experts / pundits on here have any views on this, please?

Cheers- AL :?

They took the old one away. The new one didn't need 24 hours, but did require some settle time. As to the old contents, we had a blowout the night before.

Panikos in the recommended contractors section, quoted €400 for a 180,000 Btu complete installation.
However it depends on the brand of course. He seemed a decent chap.

That is an extremely cheap price. It is less than Half the usual fixed price for 180,000btu

Regards pricing Trev, as I said we are talking a lesser known brand. He doesn't of course have the overheads of the other air-con suppliers, however it was still the new Inverter type.
It might be worth giving him a call, just to see what his price would be for a brand you had in mind.
Nothing to loose eh

Excuse the 'grumpy old man' mode   :) but the point of a forum is to share info .....

What was the conclusion?

Thanks for the idea Mike, but I think we have all we need now..

But for anyone else thinking of having one installed that price is remarkable..

Apologies to JB,thought there were enough replies on the subject for any interest without me prolonging the blog. Anyway, guy coming Monday highly recommended, but obviously will have to see. Reasonable price for a Gree unit, same factory as Daikin, fitted and old unit taken. Watch this space..
