Free buses and holidays for low-income pensioners
Re: Free buses and holidays for low-income pensioners
Do you happen to know what level of (low) income is the poverty line?
Thank you.

Sadly the article does not mention that, nor where to apply. Hopefully there will be more details yet to come out

I would think its for Pensioners who get supplementary benefits to their pensions.

"Bus cards for those eligible have already been issued and are due to be sent out, she added."
It would seem that the Government already knows who qualifies and is sending out the bus passes automatically to people. Hence no need to apply. The 4 day mountain resort break on full board is a very nice idea, too!
Well done Cy Gov!
Cheers- AL

For those expat pensioners who are not aware; a Cypriot Social Card can be had upon application at the Citizens Centres. This will give a 50% reduction on buses. At the moment they can't issue a 'card' but you will get an A4 piece of paper signed & stamped to show eligibility.

I think it will depend on who deals with your application. I would take passport, birth certificate, yellow slip, electricity bill to show address. That’ll probably do!

It sounds as though our free bus passes that were issued in 2009 are no longer valid then.

If they don't have an expiry date on them I would expect them to be still valid.
I just think there is an extra category of person entitled.
