This is the first time I have heard of Military Bases at Pegeia.. Where are they situated.?

I meant either side of Pegeia, Trev, not in Pegeia itself.

On the hill above Pótima on the way to Coral Bay is a huge base, mixed Army, Air Force and Navy.

And on a hillside 2km NW of Inea is a large Army base with a tall radio mast. Pegeia sits neatly midway between the two.

Where is there a base above Potima?

I've driven past the one on the Akamas many times, but you will never see a photo of it on one of my blogs. I respect their "No photography" signs.

Incidently, when we were in the UK we lived in Frimley, which is near Aldershot, Farnborough, Sandhurst Military Academy, Pirbright Barracks, Bisley and Ash Ranges. IE we were surrounded by military. Mobile coverage was suspiciously bad there, too. Whether by accident or design we could never tell.

Driving halfway along the coast road from Kissonerga to the Coral Bay junction, glance uphill to your right, and there it is perched, a very large military facility at the end of a dead end road... Nearby are two huge rectangular terracotta coloured dishes pointing south out to sea, clearly visible from on top of the northern end of Coral Bay.

Pure conjecture, but I bet there are line of sight military encrypted microwave comms between these two military bases 12km apart, with Pegeia sitting between them. Was wondering if such high power signals would disrupt WISP along the route?

Al, military microwave frequencies do not interfere with WISP. Weather radar does (however according to the Dept of Comms there are none here in CY), the radar at Lara uses a low frequency (about 2GHZ) which does cause problems with 2.4GHZ routers nearby, as it is a long range radar. You can tell by looking at the rotation speed. There are some NATO frequencies near to the WISP band, but again not used here, the British Base does have TACAN, but again should not clash with WISP frequencies. There can be an issue when the exercises are in progress as mobile radar devices are used, which are a frequency hopping radar that can clash with WISP devices.

I am biased though. I grew up surrounded by army and RAF bases. We used to crawl through a drainage tunnel under a railway line to get access to the assault course at Keogh Barracks in Ash Vale.

You can see the assault course there. Below that, you can see all the firing ranges, which were a kid's best playground.

It might look tiny from the coast road below, but the overhead Sat view shows it as a very large complex indeed.

True story: I was trying to find a short cut up to Tala from Kissonerga to visit my friends. Took a wrong turn, and finished up outside this place. Nice coastal view, so stopped and lit a ciggy to gaze around and admire the scenery.

Next minute, there was a loud click click sound behind me. It was a soldier with a loaded machine gun, wanting to know what I was doing there! After 20 minutes of interrogration (my name, address, life history etc) he allowed me to leave. A bit scary, though, as you're assumed to be a Turkish spy methinks...
