Shock Absorbers

Post by Oxfordboy »

I need to replace the front shock absorbers on my car (Merc B150). Any recommendations for someone to supply and fit some decent after-market replacements other than Mercedes themselves? Not that they can't do it of course, but it's a hell of a price. Peyia/Kissonerga/Chrorokas side preferable but not essential.

Thanks

An alternative shock absorber to look for instead of Merc OEM would be Bilstein, if this helps your local search? They are rated as often superior to OEM shocks, as well as less expensive...

You obviously already know that they should be replaced in pairs (either front or back), good!

Not many people know this, but the term 'shock absorber' is a total misnomer. They are in fact 'suspension dampers'... It's the coil/leaf/torsion bar SPRING part of the suspension that actually deals with the bumps (and shocks) in the road. But without the dampers, the springs would just carry on bouncing up and down a few times. As yours probably are now, LOL!

Cheers- AL ;)
