Poor thing would be frightened to death. They should have just left the doors and windows open, until it flew out..

I well remember 4 or 5 years ago one of my cats bringing me a "present" and proudly depositing it on the last step of my staircase which is situated sort of in the midddle of my lounge/kitchen/diner. From a distance it looked a bit like a neatly wrapped squarish dark brown parcel. I got up to take a closer look, whereupon it took off, literally like a bat out of hell, swooping up and down the lounge, when I realised it was indeed a bat. I could do no other than open all doors and windows and stand by. It speedily found its way out and went safely on its way.

Gave me a bit of a fright to start with tho!!

Update on the bats...

A chap at the municipality advised to seal up all but one exit. At dusk the vast majority will leave for the night and at that point close the hole. The following evening open it up again to allow any remaining bats to leave and then follow the same process. He advised to do this for several nights before closing the hole for good...

Fingers crossed. Lovely creatures but not what you want in the house!

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

We do!
Was talking to a builder guy the other day. Apparently, they only need a one inch square hole to get through!
Goodness knows where they get in

Bats are cool. We have one nesting in one of our umbrellas so i've stopped using it! Personally, I love watching them swoop around at night. Our old home in UK overlooked a gorge with a nature park, and they used to do evening bat watching walks, which were great, I ended up buying one of the 'bat boxes' which picks up the frequencies of sound the varieties make.

We had wasps nesting in one of our umbrellas. That wasn't so cool. :)
