Warning.Keep em peeled.

Post by beachcaster »

Found this pest in the garden this morning. I am sure some of you will recognize this creature as a species in the class of Symphyla (pseudocentipede).
It was scoffing the very hot peppers. I am told that they can be very aggressive towards other larger insects.
Regards Alan.

Easily identified by the legs, it often goes by the name of Matchus Matchus, or the Lesser Spotted Cigar grub.

Is this a fake from Max (in good humour) or for real? ;?

Kind of, Dom. My Mum once sent me up to the local Grocery shop (when I was aged 8) to ask for a jar of Elbow Grease, LOL!

I used to pick up on a lot of Mum's little comments (her being a Cockney). She did dressmaking on her little Singer sewing machine for nearby neighbours. One day, she asked me to pop an alteration she had made around the corner, and collect four shillings.

The lady said thanks, gave me the four shillings, plus a sixpence tip! Bear in mind I was only 8 years old here. My reply was "Sling your hook", which Mum used to say to me every day...

Needless to say, Mum wasn't happy with feedback from her client after my delivery, LOL!

Happy old days- AL :)

Looks like it`s all kicking off here. Heard a disturbance and on investigation found what looked like the makings of a dispute.
Not sure how this is all going to turn out but it does not look good.

You appear to have the Loch Ness Monster in the background. Or Eeyore.

Isn't the Praying Mantis the most amazing creature to study, close up? I think this one maybe has the love light in his eyes, rather than eyeing up a potential meal...

Cheers- AL ;)

Sitting in a bar in Coral Bay one day, for lunch, my better half had a large mantis land on her.... She let out such a scream, the barman assumed is must be a snake and when he saw the mantis, he fell about laughing..... I was no help, so she told me....

Okay. I have been worrying over nothing. No aggression shown by the Symphyla and it turns out that he does keep fit classes.

Oh no, the very realistic-looking Praying Mantis also turns out to be a fake...

Dotage is a funny stage in life, leaving one wide open to practical jokers, taking advantage of their naiivity and sweet innocence, LOL!

Cheers- AL ;)
