Long term rentals
Long term rentals
Hi everyone!
We have found ourselves in a tough position, our landlord has decided to put the house we rent on the market. We have until October to find a new place. I have been in touch with every agent i could find but the ones who did reply didn't have anything on their books.
If anyone out there knows anyone who is looking to rent out a 3 bedroom house with an enclosed garden (for 2 labradors) within a reasonable commute to the international school. I can get a reference from our current landlords to state that the dogs haven't caused any damage at all. I am happy with either furnished or unfurnished but preferably with white goods if possible. My budget is up to about 600 Euros.
I hope it's ok to put this post in this section for a little while!
Thanks very much in advance!!!
Sarah

I agree wit H I C. Go to the area you want to live in and have a look around. Go into coffee shops and kiosks and ask..

Check bazar ki and the various Facebook buy sell groups. I often see things go past on them.
Re: Long term rentals
My question is unrelated to the OP´s problem but the headline fits well. May I therefore ask if anybody knows about the requirements of long-term contracts? I was told there needs to be a set point in time at which they terminate but you can be given an option to extend the lease? I was also told that if your lease period is more than 15 years you have the right to have it registered with the authorities (but where? in the land register?). Is it it possible under Cypriot law to buy the life-long usufruct of a building rather than entering into a lease contract?

Good luck in your search, Sarah! I believe it's custom in Cyprus that everybody is a potential estate agent. Whereby if they introduce a potential buyer to the seller of a property, and the sale goes through successfully, the 'matchmaker' gets 3% commission on the sale price (less than a proper estate agent would charge).
Not sure if a similar arrangement applies to long term rentals, if someone matches a potential tenant with a landlord, but I bet it does- hence the sound advice from HIC (Lloyd)
Cheers- AL
