Yesterday this nasty scorpion was floating in my Pool. I thought if I had put my hands in the skimmer filters in order to take them out for cleaning I would be very sorry if the scorpion was there....
So I took it out of the water with the net and gave it to the Lizards/Agamen for their breakfast.
As I am still testing my new camera here 2 pics of it....
I've encountered a few on the island. they seem to like the base of trees especially where there may be a few stones or rocks close by.
Capture them in a cut down plastic bottle and move them somewhere off your property. They sometimes give the bottle a good wack!

We saw a small dead scorpion near the Aphrodite Falls, a few years ago. I always check my gardening trainers before putting them on, as a result.

I have every year ca 5-10 in my Pool from Summer to late Autumn, even with all the Agamen around. But most of them I found in the past on walls of deserted village houses in full sunshine. Abandoned places where our Dominic is doing his favorite Blogs ... (I am not joking) But once stung, in most cases you don't need the hospital, although it is very very painful. Luckily it never happened to me, even when I visited these places many many times as it is also one of my big hobbies. (field archaeology)
Before we got UPVC, we had one whose home was in an aluminium window frame with a half-open end. At the top of the same frame, we had bats; I don't know whether the scorpion fed on the bats (size?).
A Cypriot friend was bitten by a baby scorpion he was collecting grass for his grandchildrens bunnies holding the grass by his chest whilst bending to collect more.......luckily it was the right hand side.....but he had to go to the hospital ........they put a drain in his chest.....he was back and forth to the hospital for days plus loads of medication
OH found one on our bed the other week, and that is one floor up, threw a tissue over it and lifted it [ you need a few layers of kitchen towel if you are going to do that,] and got stung. Scorpions here are like a bee sting, not much worse but I know some people react badly to bee stings, so it is acidic, strong solution of Bicarbonate of soda liberally applied should do the trick, not instant but the answer. As an aside Wasp stings are Alkaline so Vinegar for them.
Scorpions are more common than you think in rural areas mostly in woodpiles or shaded areas base of trees or cracks in walls etc .
Shine a UV light during darkness and if any are around they will appear white.
