End of an era for The Cyprus Weekly

Post by memory man »

Friday is the last issue of the Cyprus Weekly, signalling the end of this historic newspaper’s long journey.

Factbased and ever-informed, it has, as an English-language weekly publication, touched on important local and world events.

Nevertheless, it is evident that the role of a weekly newspaper, has, over the last few years, diminished. A development that has led to other plans.
The void created by the absence of the Cyprus Weekly will be covered by the Group’s electronic publications.

Our English-language news service will continue and will be enhanced, while being directed to both the local and international market via our English- language websites, as well as upcoming, specialised sites in the final stages of preparation.

Communication in the 21st century demands 24-hour coverage, seven days a week and that is exactly what we commit to bringing to you.

The problem with the Cyprus Weekly is that it is a weekly. Old news in a time of instant news. I get the Cyprus mail every day which is a newspaper, as things should be. Books and newspapers, bliss.
