Buffering
Re: Buffering
I have two system with two different providers, one was problem free the other was break up trouble, so I put this down to one of my service providers not buffering as mentioned, if it was Internet related both system using the same Cyta router would have been a problem, sounds like you use the same provider as the one I was having problems with, it is OK again this morning just a glitch I guess, this will happen from time to time.
Jim.
Re: Buffering
I have CYTA via a Magbox and pay for 10 Mbs - no buffering even though sometimes the green lights are flashing. Was advised I needed a minimum of 6 Mbs when I took out the contract. Usually have two computers on at the same time! Technician told me to watch the third green light from the left facing the router as that is the one that monitors internet connection. I do watch catch up though, rather than live TV so not sure if that would make any difference.
Re: Buffering
i had some trouble with mine last night. When I checked my CYTA speed it was down to 6-7. No problems today and speed is back up to 10.
Re: Buffering
The buffering problem could be several thousand miles away at the server you are trying to stream from and have nothing to do with your local connection. It is often the case that the host server is under pressure, and cannot stream the data packet video and audio information simultaneously, so they do not arrive at your box at the same milli second.
Re: Buffering
Buffering on "Yesterday" was ridiculous tonight. Totally unwatchable and not the norm for that particular channel in my experience.
...but then turned to BBC News HD and it's perfect. No buffering at all..
Go figure!

Re: Buffering
Same here in Polemi with Mag 254 box and Primetel and has been poor now for several days but speed check shows 8.
Re: Buffering
And yet we are in Polemi and the Mag box has been playing OK on around 5 or 6 mbps
Trev..
Re: Buffering
It is not easy to pin down. Currently I have TV customers with problems in Kissongera, and the eastern end of the island, with CYTA - I am currently watching the exact program that someone has reported to be stop/start with cyta, with no glitches at all here.
On my wireless network these symptoms are usually due to a busy access point (speedtests will still show good speeds, but tv is stop/start), which should not happen with hard wired circuits, unless there is a problem with the main feed to the dslam.
First option is to change the MAG box, just to eliminate that. If that still plays up I will call cyta.
Strange, but these things only just seem to be happening after a speed upgrade in the last week or so.
BTW do not increase the buffer size too far, catch-up on a mag box may not load.
