Aluminium Door Shutters

Anyone had shutters fitted to their patio doors? I am thinking about having some Aluminium shutters fitted to my apartment sliding patio doors and am looking for an indicative price. Cheers.

Whoever does it, make sure that you can remove the fly screens after the doors are fitted. A friend cannot take his fly screens out to clean after the smart new shutters were fitted.

Our neighbour had 2 done in July, and they were about 850 euros each (That may or may not have included security locks on the other windows.). We have the same type of property, with the same layout, they are large windows, about 2.5 m wide and virtually the height of the room, I reckon about 2.5m tall. Based on the height of our room in the UK and the fact I can touch the ceiling here but not in Cyprus.
A few years ago we had all our windows fitted with shutters and we had another patio door replaced on the side. We both used Tony from Lemba Glass, Phone No. 99542099, he told us they were bigger than normal and he put stronger, wider posts in to support the wider doors and make them a bit smaller, he was the only one to mention that, he did the same for our neighbour.
We are both pleased with the job. We had one locking handle play up a few days after we had them fitted and Tony fixed it next day. He was reliable, cleaned everything up after the job and was the cheapest, though we had decided we wanted to use him before we had his quote, as long as he was in the same ball park on pricing, as he had done some work for us years ago and his workmanship has stood the test of time. We had 3 quotes, the dearest was nearly 35% more. The other was a few hundred euros dearer than Tony.
We can still remove the screens he put in previously, just mention it to him, he is very helpful and gave us the pros and cons on things.

Naughty, I know, but always ask them if they'd like a cash deal off their books... Saves them tax, and you vat. I've had full house double glazing done this way, and still got my FENSA guarantee. Then a complete new roof for my detached garage, with 18mm smartply and one piece Firestone rubber covering, side trims etc, still with my 30 year guarantee.

It always pays you to at least ask, as it can save you both shedloads of wonga (meaning you and the contractor). Don't get pious and high and mighty with me here please! But WHY should gov collect a 20% rake off on a job they took no part in whatsoever?

For the same reason they levy income tax on the on the financial proceeds of your job which they didn't take any practical part in.

The simple and honest answer is "Yes - I can".

I have paid my window cleaner cash without knowing what his VAT status is as a self employed person, but the point is that I would not seek to avoid my legal responsibilities by trying to negotiate an illegal deal, knowing that it was circumventing the law.
