Twitter is something I don't use but it seems that well known people really do receive some awful hate posts on it.
I have just read that Piers Morgan has had a fall and broken his ribs. Now I cannot stand the man but apparently the tweets he has received
are disgusting, using foul language etc etc.
Why do people feel the need to vent such hatred at people and why do Twitter allow such obscene language?
What is your opinion re Twitter?
Re: What is your opinion re Twitter?
Freedom of speech and all that. Their gaff, their rules. Besides, what's obscene to one person is fairly mundane to another.
I dislike Twitter, mainly because I am not on it all the time, so only tend to see somebody's tweet a day or two after it has been tweeted, by which time, if I reply, the conversation will have already moved on.
It is useful for keeping up with info about my football team though.
Some kids are weird about it though. I remember being amazed at the near celebrity status afforded to one tweeter, because Alan Sugar had replied to one of their tweets. The fact that Alan Sugar tweeted that they must be a brain dead moron, or something, did not seem to matter. They had made it.
The main reason twitter gets such precedence in the media, is because the media, and media people in particular, love it. It is in their interests to big up tweets etc.
Another reason is it's availability. You can tweet in a bus queue, or in a lift even. It doesn't take a moment to use.
If it disappeared tomorrow I would be quite happy though. Mainly because it has preoccupied news services for far too long, at the expense of decent journalism.

Twitter is fab for getting problems fixed....
It's worked for me several times.
Companies don't like to see bad things about their service, complete with photos on full view for everyone to see. The # is king
As for Piers Morgan, he dishes it out all the time so he knows he will get it back....
