Refund of IPT

Post by Howden Tiger »

Just wondering if anyone has any idea/experience of length of time in receiving IPT refund, paid when paying for title deeds almost 2 years ago, or are we just clutching at straws! We have been into Tax Office several times to chase up, just get fobbed off and told to come back later!!

Thanks,

Ian & Julie

It did take us 3 years to get back our over-payment. In the end our solicitor got involved. We had made numerous visits to the lovely lady in the tax office. First off ask her to confirm that your refund application is on her computer and that all the paperwork is in place. Next ask if your file is in that huge pile behind her or in the smaller pile . If it is in the smaller pile then expect a cheque within 3/4 months. Don't waste your time going there until staff are all back from holiday. We were very disappointed with the refund , only half of what expected!

Does Charis need to go into the Directory as some kind of "Mr Fix It" I wonder? Seems a good idea to me, based on Lloyd's experiences!

Or possibly another banner ad candidate, Dom?

Cheers- AL :)

It's like most things in this country connected with government/local authorities. If you personally want to progress things you have to be chasing things regularly to the extent of making yourself a nuisance. This is the cheapest way. If you don't want to go down this route then appoint and pay an agent who has good contacts with relevant authorities.
