New fly screens & alumin. shutters

Post by Howden Tiger »

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations/recent good service to provide new fly screens and metal shutters. I've looked in Recommended Contractors but couldn't see anything! Last time we purchased these we used Dave, ex. CL, but I understand he is no longer on the island? Property location Chlorakas.

Thanks,

Ian & Julie

This is NOT a personal recommendation, Ian and Julie, just a search result that might help you with the metal shutters aspect. It seems to be a local company based in Kissonerga and/or Peyia:

http://paphosaluminium.com/archedshutters.htm

As to flyscreens, I'm sure there was a recent thread containing rave reviews for a local outfit that did made to measure flyscreens at a really reasonable price. Try Dominic's SEARCH facility on PL using keyword flyscreens

Some flyscreens are lockable, which is a handy feature to have, allowing you to have front and back doors open, flyscreens locked, and still a gentle breeze wafting through.

Cheers- AL :)

There is another small company I could recommend for people with fly screen, small windows, mirror issues:

B. Safaridis & A. Popov, over the road from Main Paps at the traffic lights, Tel. 99 332 794 & 99 935 604 - E-mail [email protected]

Google: map 34.781081,32.425905

Used this company recently for large sliding door fly screen replacing. Including transport to Marathounda only 50 Euro.. :!:

@Max: How was I wrong, in alerting Ian & Julie to a potential custom-made metal shutters company locally with a link to browse?

I did say that there was a recent Flyscreens recommendation here on PL, (but couldn't find it).
They both said that they browsed the Directory, but couldn't find shutters nor flyscreens...

Thanks for filling in the missing link for them, regarding flyscreens! Don't think I was wrong as such, just trying to be helpful, tbh...

@Trev: The person who relayed this info to me via PM I think meant while they were sitting downstairs, watching telly, with all the lights blazing. I guess when it's time to retire to your air-conditioned bedroom, you'd lock up and shut up fully downstairs? At least, I would!

Franks blinds will come to your home to recover, from my recollection at 20 euros per window.

Afraid I have mislaid his number. I am sure someone on line will have it!

Franks Blinds I would recommend him as he did most of our 48 apartments in Tala. A good Scottish gentleman and prices very reasonable.

In the DIY section of the directory, you can filter for mosquito netting. Perhaps I should rename that flyscreens?

I will certainly add Franks Blinds though.

The directory itself is young, and I am still working on decent search techniques. It is nice to know that people are actually looking at it though!

Also used Frank for flyscreens at our place in Tala and for blinds here in Polemi.

I was needing to replace my fly screens, and saw this discussion yesterday. So after all the positive recommendations I gave Frank a ring. He came round at 10 this morning and in half an hour all done. Another satisfied customer.

That's excellent to hear, Andrew, and thanks for the feedback and recommendation!

Now, if I was Frank, I would be getting in touch with Dominic (or Dom contacting Frank?) regarding a very reasonable banner ad price per annum here on PL. He doesn't only do Flyscreens, but internal blinds and even complete furniture packages, too!

Frank claims to be the best value in the area, and he can also be found at the Timi and Duck Pond markets.

Thanks for all responses and recommendations. I got in contact with Frank, he came round this morning, on time, when he said he would, no waiting! Many thanks to all once again.
