Just saw a report in German TV about Life-Saving Drones and thought it would be also a great idea for our dangerous Paphos Beaches...

Have you actually got a drone (with HD Video Cam) that you're still gaining flight skills on, Dom?
As these Vids from Max kind of suggest that a drone on some of your blogs might present a major multimedia presentation advantage for you!

There are actually fairly strict rules regarding drone flying in Cyprus, especially if you intend publishing your efforts. Besides the current format for the blogs seems to work well. The inclusion of video footage would break the flow. I guess I could add one at the end of a blog, but that would mean the blogs would take a lot longer to produce. It is far, far quicker to size and format 25 odd pictures than a small video clip.

I don't think the Drone was involved in surveillance of the sea or beach.. The lifeguards was doing the surveillance and then sent the drone out with an automatically inflatable float..

Their fire service do a good job. And I read somewhere that their ambulance service was much improved too.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2017 12:49 am
The opportunity is undoubtedly there, but somehow I doubt it. Investment - both initial and ongoing - forward planning, organisation, training and empowering employees to make decisions does not sit comfortably in the Cypriot psyche. No better illustration than the state ambulance service. If they can't get that right, what chance drone surveillance on beaches?![]()

The topic was: Drones Used to Rescue Swimmers - not air surveillanceHappy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2017 12:49 am

"drones are being operated in the southwestern Nouvelle-Aquitaine region until September to come to the aid of swimmers struggling in choppy water.
At 80 kilometers an hour, the 3.9 kilogram drone buzzes to the danger spot four minutes faster than a lifeguard and is programmed to neatly drop a life buoy to the water."
That's the whole idea which I think is excellent. And I believe that Cypriot lifeguards can be clever enough to get trained on it and use it..

If a drone managed by a lifeguard can get a liferaft out to a swimmer who is in difficulties and about to drown and die, in FOUR minutes less than a standard rescue operation, then what on earth are we argueing about, folks?
Seconds count in life-saving situations, never mind minutes! We all know that, surely?
