Fridge
Re: Fridge
For repairs suggest Marios Panagiotou Appliance Repair on 996 30575. Was highly recommend on Cyprus Living in days gone by which is when we had problems with a fridge freezer on two occasions. Repaired and saved having to replace an other wise excellent appliance.

Re: Fridge
You can try to fix the problem yourself. Switch off the power for 12 hours. Empty the freezer part and place some pots with hot water into the compartment to defrost the pipes more quickly. If you are lucky it will work again. I had a similar situation several times with my fridge freezers in the last 2 years.

Re: Fridge
I have used Marios myself several times. He rescued my American style fridge freezer when it had stopped working. I thought that it had died! On the phone he asked me the for the name of the maker and the model. When he arrived he had all the tools and quickly diagnosed the problem which was that the circulation fan had broken down. Not only that he had brought a spare part with him. I was very relieved that the compressor was OK, and once he had replaced the fan, the fridge restarted and has worked well since! I would recommend him without any hesitation!!

Agree with cyprusmax47.
It's happened to us twice - once at home at once in our church kitchen. If the fridge thermostat is set too high, the pipes freeze and stop the efficient running of the fridge, but not the freezer.
Defrosting in these temperatures for 24 hours then turning down the thermostat should cure the problem.
Worked for us!

Re: Fridge
I think that half the problem here is that the fridge manufactures don't include a thermometer in the fridge section (middle to rear) so that you can monitor it daily, and react to rising or falling ambient temperatures.
But you can buy a quality fridge thermometer for just over £2 !!!
Next, the dark arts of the fridge thermostat... You'd think that 1 would be cold and 5 would be warm on it's dial. WRONG! Other way round! So if your thermometer reads over 5ºc and your thermostat is on 2, just turn the thermostat to 3 and check again next day, to get fridge temperature in the 0-5ºc zone.
If a fridge has stopped working, but the freezer section is still functioning, then it's possible that someone has wound the fridge stat round to setting 5, causing a system failure. So check that first, please!

Re: Fridge
LG is a top quality brand Lloyd, as you know. Our Beko (Class A) fridge freezer often emitted strange groaning noises ever since new.
When I bought a £2 fridge thermometer a couple of months ago from fleaBay, and hung it middle rear (as recommnded), then started adjusting the fridge thermostat to maintain the optimum 0-5ºc fridge temperature range, hey presto! No more funny noises...
Try this theory, please? BTW, I hope we see a mysafepool banner soon, please!

Re: Fridge
I would always recommend Marios, well trusted and reliable man, and he comes to you, I have no problems recommending him.
Marios Tel 99630575 *****
My old Daewoo double door American type has proved reliable, apart from a lightning strike that Marios sorted out within a few hours, the fridge is fifteen years old and going strong, not a fashionable make but as good as any we have ever purchased in our lives.

Re: Fridge
Thanks for all the responses. Marios seems to have solved the problem. My daughter had decided to set the freezer to the max and so the fridge could not stay cold enough. He came out immediately when called. I hope his diagnosis was correct as I don't want to have to buy a new fridge!

Re: Fridge
It's so confusing, Anne, when the fridge / freezer only has a single thermostat dial, with no clear markings as to warmer or cooler.
You would think that the inclusion of a fridge thermometer in fridges would be mandatory, on public health grounds. But sadly not, it seems... This is why everybody's milk goes off, when ambient temperatures suddenly climb. Beady eyes needed on the fridge thermometer (once you have bought one for £2 and hung it middle /rear) every day, methinks!
Keep the fridge in the 0-5ºc range, and the freezer will look after itself. Plus, the fridge freezer appliance won't be making strange noises any more, LOL!

Anoula really glad Marios could help as he did many CyprusLiving members over the years. Keep his contacts always very helpful and he does not overcharge as some do.
