Turkey Activates Plan B for Cyprus

Post by ApusApus »

According to Kathimerini, Turkey is activating Plan B for Cyprus in a bid to upgrade The North's international status.

Further details of the report are here http://www.ekathimerini.com/220510/arti ... for-cyprus

Regarding the island's natural gas resources paragraph at the end, I also read recently that Turkey is looking to purchase a 2nd hand deep water drilling vessel as the Barbarosa is restricted in how deep it can work!

Yes, their moves regarding Varoshia are clearly part of plan B as well. I think they are being very canny and have caught the Greek Cypriots on the back foot. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes, I agree but it depends on whether any GC's want to reclaim their land which would then be under the North's juristriction ........... could create a wedge in the GCs position if it happens!

Clever move by Turkey ............... watch this space, will test the GCs resolve!

Turkey can do what ever takes her fancy ..bottom line is... it is occupied stolen property, it dosnt belong to Turkey and never will...not me that says so the International community says so....I would think Turkey has more pressing problems, such as a Kurdish state taking shape next door to her.

Another apologist for the fiefdom... when everyone, accept that all party's involved in the Cyprus problem have blood on their hands, Greece ..Turkey and yes the UK. then we might get the climate needed to move on.....As it stands Turkey standing in the World utterly Stinks at the moment...would you believe anything the Great Turkish Dictator says? sorry you already have?.

Whether Cyprus is a significant size to worry world politics is not in question. It is a democracy that was invaded and is till under occupation. The EU should have been much more active in this. The UN has tried and failed and the reality is that the wound is still open.

Turkey cant impose or find a solution, any more than the UK, UN or EU can... the only ones who can a Cypriots of every persuasion. The problem now, is that immigration to the North of the Island has overwhelmed the Turkish Cypriots, so that now their influence is solidly Turkey. At least in the South, all immigration has had to follow Greek Cypriot rule.

You missed out Cyprus on the blame list by the way....in world affairs Cyprus counts not one jot whilst Turkey, as abhorant we may view its currant leadership still counts...and the GC leadership need to understand that...currently they don't...they play the victim card, the big boys did and ran away...when they were they were a key player in the current situation...

Everyone who has followed the Cyprus question....Never missed out anyone...I said everyone, which means everyone...Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Great Britain, Greece..Turkey..is that clear enough for you, if you think Cyprus matters not one jot, your not that bright im sorry to say..., you know exactly how important its strategic position is...if after all those years in the military as you keep telling us, you haven't worked that out, then theres no hope for you...As for Turkey, they are in for a massive shock, the Yanks supplying the Kurd's with weapons, the Iraqi Kurd's voting for an independent state,,the great Dictator leading them to a Iran mk 2....O yes Turkey still counts.

Make your mind up one minute Cyprus is not one jot on the International stage and then you post its the the most important.....I think your the one with the predjuice against the Greek side and to you Turkey can do no wrong...also it seems to me you only regard International law when it suits your argument and disregard it when it doesn't you can't have it both ways... concessions work both ways...but it seems not in your prejudice view

The international community may see it ...or may not, even someone like you can understand that Turkeys problems ...through her own stupid makings will be so big soon, that anything she chooses to do regards the Cyprus problem will not matter. Please tell us what compromises the Turks have proposed giving back varosha.. the UN says it's not there's to give...next
