The old town IS OPEN so please support it!

The one's I talk to don't think it is either. It doesn't come up in conversation much, but when it does, they have considered themselves Cypriots, not Greeks.

Well we finally went down there yesterday, spent some dosh and came away quite impressed with what we saw. i can see why some say it's a bit bland, but as the new old town evolves hopefully that will come.

Surely it's a wee bit like moving into a new house. It just takes a little while to put your own 'mark ' on it. I have no doubt the Cypriot people who have businesses in the Old Town will do just that. . . . . . . . . In Cyprus time.

@Dee: What happened to the paragraph breaks in your longer posts, please?
These make it so much easier on the eye to read your lovely input, thanks!

Bograt, I do appreciate your comments as a visitor here with no ties and time is not of the essence. It's rather a different matter when I leave Tremithousa to be at the orthodontist in KP by 5.00pm and every turn I take is blocked!!! No laughing matter, believe me! And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one living here tearing my hair out at the "going nowhere" diversions!!!!!
Fortunately he is a very patient man and accommodates us, but this can mean a wait of quite some time.

Good to see you back again, Jacs! There are other routes down to KP from Tremi that totally avoid the Old Town, via TOTK road, surely?

I went to watch eternal voyages production at the harbour with friends. We spent most of the time wondering what it was about. The advertising beforehand did not give this information, and when we arrived at the harbour we noticed that there was no real attempt at crowd control people were just milling about. The procession was an anti climax as many members of the public seemed to be caught up in it when they were just ambling about. Thus it was hard to tell who was in the procession. Even friends who had volunteered to help had been told that it had to be kept a secret so they also knew little! We thought that the best part of thst evening was the extravagant fire work display which followed it?!

Sorry, but do not understand what this has to do with the old town being open again. All information about the Pafos2017 events are explained on their website.Kili01 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2017 11:49 pm I went to watch eternal voyages production at the harbour with friends. Yes there are Al, but all a heck of a long way round. Mostly now I do take the alternative route, but in the beginning it was a nightmare for all sorts of reasons. Mainly when a road was unexpectedly closed, such as the left turn just after the Kennedy Sq lights which was being used as an alternate route when the main road in front of the police station was closed. That was a nightmare, simply nowhere else to go to get along the road past the town hall, stuck in a stream of traffic and no way to even turn round, and even when I finally managed a right turn and going back, still no options to get along that road, that was one of the days I rang and cancelled.
It was funny sometimes when diversions simply led nowhere and there were the same circles of cars going round and round, all of us shrugging our shoulders.
Main problem was not knowing which roads would be closed. After a while it levelled out and the same roads were closed for long periods, but boy did we get caught out when suddenly another road closed unexpectedly and we had to weave through yet more diversions. Was tearing my hair out one day going down to the mall to pick Georgi up and went through and round gasoline alley 3 times, only way I could get out was going the wrong way up a one way street!
Anyway, after 20 long months the braces finally came off a couple of weeks ago just in time for visiting family in UK. A stunning job by Dr Dritsas
