I'm a fairly new member here, having lived in Paphos for many years. When I recently looked to join a local forum such as this, it basically came down to a choice of two. The other one seemed full of petty squabbles, disagreements and fairly childish bickering.
This one, however, was a clear winner. Members seemed to be able to present and discuss different opinions in a grown up way. Long may it continue.

Hear hear. The difference is very noticeable. This forum continues as it started - friendly and helpful, with different viewpoints being represented and usually respected. It's a bit like having friends you have never met. Mind you, I never put a toe into the politics section, perhaps it gets a bit lively there.

I think much credit is due to Dominic, who has always made it clear he won't tolerate any trouble.

But won't lie down?? I know of at least two other forums here (NOT this one) likely to go the same way.

We're all different and have different views and opinions on things.
I think what sets this forum aside from the others is the ability for members to be able to post their own, differing opinions on a subject and for an interesting discussion and exchange of views to follow. Rather than for it to descend into petty arguing, squabbling and back biting.

i.e. this is a NORMAL forum! It is the other ones that are lacking and impose petty censorship etc.

TBH, it helps a huge amount if the forum is proactively moderated, like this one.

Let's hope the members reciprocate and act normally! Censorship is only needed when members overstep the mark. I'm sure you are aware of that, Geoffrey?
