Possible opening of Varosha by the Turks??

Two state solutions don't work.

Works OK in Ireland.
Anyway, what is the alternative? They have tried agreeing on a BBF deal but it ended in tears.
Or do we just have another 43 years of what we have now?

It will also be interesting to see where the £1bn (or £1.5bn) gets spent. If you look at infrastructure such as motorways, dual carriageways and train lines, almost all of it is in Unionist-voting areas. If that continues with this money, any hopes of betterment will fade.

As to Cyprus, if indeed it becomes two states, then the North has to lose EU rights, as well as rights to any gas in the southern fields. Proper two-states means separation and all that entails. Just as oil off the north coast of Northern Ireland would not be claimed by Southern Ireland....

I didn't know the "north" had any EU rights, but having said that I keep on seeing infra-structure projects funded by the EU
(restoration of Othello's Gate etc in Famagusta) so maybe you are right.
They would not, as you say, have any rights to offshore oil/gas - but there may well be on-shore reserves also.

I think the term, "Greek Extremist" is offensive, if you are talking about their politics.... Maybe they are extreme right-wing Cypriots, with Greek ambitions?

It's a bit like me calling you a Tory Extremist or UKIP Extremist....
