A Look At Cap St Georges

Cap St Georges is a new commercial venture out near the Akamas. It was recently discussed on the Paphos Life forum, as people were concerned about the level of access to the beach area that non-residents would get. So we took our camera down to have a look. This is not a review of Cap St Georges, we didn't try any of the food or drink. This is more of a quick nose so you can see what the area is like.

The paper bags are weighed down with rocks or sand and then at night have tea lights in them. The bag stops the flame being blown out and provides a lovely glow.
There are several beautiful olive trees around the resort. They were all brought in and didn't originally grow there. I remember clearly, a few years ago, seeing trucks and diggers putting them in place.

Great blog........the beach area looks a super place for a swim .........are the sun beds for public hire or only their guests
I would definitely go a try out the restaurant etc
I'm sure many don't approve of yet another concrete block taking up the beauty of the natural environment......I have felt like that for decades but this area has been invaded by developers for a long time.

It was my understanding, having spoken to staff, that they are freely available to the public.

I find picture #22 a bit worrying, though... CSG appear to have installed a chain of floodlights along the top of the cliff, in order to illuminate the beach and shallows at night. Nice idea, BUT...

They have the floodlight angled almost vertically! With the reflector design used in this type of luminaire, it means that the beach won't be illuminated hardly at all, whereas Geronisos Island (not to mention half the night sky) will be well lit up! They need angling DOWN to approx 45º in order to properly illuminate the intended areas.

Perhaps Steve M could wander down to CSG after sunset, to maybe investigate my observation?

Would love it if someone could 'borrow' a menu and post pics of it...

Crikey, Lincoln! Not much better than the loos at Riccos Beach, then? Did they have toilet paper, wash basins with soap, and hand towels? How much were your drinks?

I find the free sunbeds and shades a nice idea, compared to the rest of the rip-off Paphos beaches... But how does someone who wants to sun-bathe here go about it, I wonder? Drop the parasol? Or perhaps wheel the sunbed out from under the shade?

I took "freely available" to mean anybody could hire them.

No, when I spoke to staff they said they were free of charge. And freely available ☺

Oh and I corrected a typo. It should have read 200 metres, not 2000.

That's more like it, Dominic! But I wonder why they didn't include simple steps and hand rails down to the other end of the beach, by pic #22?

On your blog exercise, were you able to verify that the coastal footpath is still fully functional past the CSG development? For example, from Yialos Taverna all the way to Agios Georgios harbour?

No, this bay and the slipway are now pedestrian access only. There is, of course, the public slipway at Agios Georgios, just one minute down the road.

It certainly ran as far as I could see, and in the other direction. It was too hot to do much exploring. We will be back another time though.

Another point.Whilst we were there One of the staff went with ticket book to collect the rental of the people using the beds.

The toilets were clean and yes smart with paper towels and toilet paper

Maybe the free sunbeds are no longer free. If you've seen staff collecting fees for their use, the policy has obviously changed since I spoke to them. That's a shame but maybe it got too busy.

I've just taken a couple of pictures of the path way that the resort has built that I thought people would be interested in.

Both pictures were taken at the eastern end of the resort, from the rugged little bay that I've previously described.

The first picture is looking back towards the buildings on the resort and to Ayios Georgios, beyond. You can see Geronisos Island in the distance, on the far left.

The second picture shows the path way as it heads in the direction of Coral Bay. For the entire length of the development, the path is flat, smooth and of good quality.

That's wonderful to know! Thank you so much for the time and trouble you've taken to reassure us on this vital point, m8! As there were serious concerns in the early days of the CSG development plans that the coastal walking track from Corralia Bay to Agios Georgios past the Sea Caves would be totally blocked to the Hoi Polloi...

Any chance of taking a quick look at the CSG beach at night, please, pretty pleeeeeze? As regards that string of floodlights along the top of the cliff that I expressed concerns about?
