Do you know why ONE German Company can sell 4 mio sausages?

Post by cyprusmax47 »

. :) and sell them not in week, in a day!!......Because they are famous for their quality all over Germany and are available even in Cyprus (exclusive at Lidl)
I know I had already a post on here, but I thought as it was in the more cold time of the year perhaps people forgot. Specially as it is so easy to prepare them in just 5-6 minutes in a very hot pan (without fat) it is very handy when it is so hot and people can't be bothered to start big cooking....... ;) like me right now :D
Just put them in a nice whole-grain bread roll (or 2) and I am done...(OK a ice-cold drink goes well with it)

Okay, I give up... What is the brand name and what are they called, please?

I can then try our local Lidl to see if they sell them. Do you butter the rolls, Max? Or add anything else in as a filler, apart from the wurst?

Cheers- AL (taste buds slavering all of a sudden!) :)

Al, if you want to see a pic how the sausages look when they are cooked you must go to my post from last Easter:viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1413 photo no 5!

And here you can see how a package with 14 of them look for Export to Cyprus..and England? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=532

Don't put butter (but plenty of the sausages) on your bread rolls - perhaps you like mustard or horse radish? (this is a large post where you can find more links for the sausages..)

Scrumptious thanks, Max! I will pop down to my local Lidl store in a day or so, and see if I can grab some! Another grocery item we used to love when stopping off at German autobahn service areas or nearby villages (én route to Hungary) was their continental breakfasts!

Gorgeous fresh bread rolls and coffee. But the butter was to die for! Last time I looked in Aldi and Lidl in UK (both German-owned) I was disappointed to find NO butter from Germany! How can that be, I wonder?

As regards mustard, have a look around in some of the shops catering for the Polish community. They have 2 or 3 varities ranging from Mild, to Medium to Hot, yummy!

Horseradish: Love it with just about anything! There's some lanes the other side of LTN airport where you can literally pick your own off the banks, then make it yourself! Some are are HOT, some are mild, just wait and see! Either way, it tastes gorgeous!

Cheers- AL :)

So you have to come to Cyprus to shop German Butter? Good quality German Butter is also at Lidl's available (salted, unsalted). By the way: the Lidl butter is the only one in Cyprus which is not a frozen one from the "European Butter Mountain". There are max 6 weeks expire date on, unlike all other brands in Cyprus which have 1-2 YEARS on....! (Butter from the Mountain goes mainly to Russia for very low prices ;) as soon as the expire date is more than 2 years.)

We need three packs of 14 in my family - really great to have in the fridge for a quick meal with bread and salad. They only take a few minutes on the BBQ.

We also love the "German boiled sausages" which are very close to my favourite Swiss Cervelate sausage. Nice both grilled or cold in a salad with cheese and other items. Yum.

Are the German boiled sausages four in a pack? ca 1/2 kilo? I was not sure if they were any good and as I am a single household +dog, a bit to much for me I thought.

All this talk of sausages, I cooked these lovely sausages earlier this morning, to have later with Max's special potato salad recipe. My tummy rumbles as I write :D :D :D

They look like this:
http://sausage.wikia.com/wiki/Cervelat
(did not know there is a sausage wiki - lol).

In Lidl they are sold in a green blue bag with more than 6 sausages in it. Probably closer to 10? And they are substantially larger than the other ones discussed above.

We have half on the BBQ and half a few days later cold sliced in small rolls with salad. Lovely.

The main difference to the proper Swiss ones is the skin is more difficult to remove. The Swiss ones have skins from intestines from Brazil. Lidl ones probably artificial stuff.

Switzerland had a national crisis a few years back when intestines from Brazil were banned for a while due to some animal disease:-(

Some families are known to have fights whether it is better to remove the skin or leave it on :-)

Bon appetite, A.
