Can anyone recommend a hotel in Paphos

Post by Pollydoodle »

I have a friend who is considering a holiday in Paphos at Easter and has asked for a recommendation for their hotel.

As we have never stayed in any of the hotels I am unable to suggest anything.

Looking for reasonable quality all inclusive or half board close to amenities.

Has anyone had any recent experience?

No but we are staying at the Aquamare in 2 weeks time for 3 nights. It was very reasonable as I booked it early and got a good discount. We have never stayed there before but have gone to functions there and it comes well recommended. It is at the Geriskipou end of all the sea front hotels but a pleasant walk along the walkway all the way to the Harbour ( possibly a mile?)

We stayed at Louis Ledra Beach and Alexander The Great on half board, both are very nice hotels on the beach side within walking distance to bars and the Habour. Have a look on Tripadvisor and Trivago, they both have very good reviews along with many other hotels in the area.

The Louis Phaethon hotel was very good, when I stayed there 5 years ago. Unusually for an all inclusive hotel, the food was excellent, as was the entertainment. In the foyer there was a cafe, where you could order coffee with Baileys, Tia Maria etc. Lovely! Just what was needed after a brisk, February walk.

We've stayed at The Annabelle and also the Almyra Hotels but prefer The Annabelle, it has a nicer feel to it. The Almyra is quite white and clinical... You can use the spa facilities at the Almyra if staying at The Annabelle. We've stayed twice at The Annabelle (last time was April 2016).

We stayed at the Cypria Maris about 4yrs ago and enjoyed it there - we upgraded to AI on checking in. At that time, they were renovating the hotel next door which I think is one of the Sentido hotels and that looked very nice.

We could walk into town easily enough from the Cypria Maris.

If you are looking for quality all-inclusive the King Jason is excellent have a look on trip advisor, they have an offer at present if you book direct with them, the GM Andreas keeps a very tight ship, location is not brilliant.
The Elysuim is also excellent......this winter has gone through a refurbishment
The Almyra and Annabelle have the best location in Paphos, service is very good at both, but they are looking somewhat tired and could do with a facelift

When we used to holiday here, we generally stayed in the Capital Coast Hotel. If you booked from bookcyprus.com you would get the cheapest prices. We always went self catering, so couldn't comment on the food, but the pools were nice and there is a spa there too.

The Elysium is very nice, I think it was being closed over the winter for refurbishment but sure on the dates / status.

Disappointed to see thumbs downs for the Aloe Hotel (opposite the Alexander the Great, but on the other side of the road). I've stayed at the Aloe a couple of times and really loved it!

Walking distance to the triangle, or to night life street either direction along the coast. Some nice bars and tavernas close by. Decent beach opposite, good facilities plus a huge pool. Buffet breakfast was superb!

Must let you into a naughty secret here... I was at the Aloe on a 14 night single deal over Christmas and New Year once, with 7 nights B&B and 7 nights HB (where you looked at the evening menus, and chose which 7 out of 14 days you wanted the evening dinner for).

I loved their buffet breakfasts! When I went next trip for just a week in Spring, it was S/C closer to bar street. Landed at PFO early afternoon on a Wednesday. First job was to hire a Trail Motorbike for the week to explore on. 6am on Thursday, I'd promised myself a slap-up buffet brekky back at the Aloe...

Reported in at reception and said that I'd stayed at the Aloe recently and wished to purchase a Breakfast. The reply was to the effect that one must do this IN the restaurant. So in I walked, only to be met by the same lady waitress from before, saying "Welcome back Mr Alan! Tea or Coffee?"

I hide my head in shame, as I was down there every morning at 6am for a buffet breakfast, then back to the apartment for another two hours kip. Didn't need much at lunchtime or evening to keep me going that week. Awful, terrible, taking liberties, abusing hospitaly- I know what your'e going to respond with...

We had a similar scenario in the 5* Intercontinental hotel in Budapest, Hungary, a few years back. My brother-in-law and I was staying in his Aunt's flat for a week. We both liked our hotel brekkies, so took her down as well. Check-In system (room number) was broken. We were in there every morning (with our Merc 230SE parked out front) for a super-duper breakfast, with the Chef alongside asking how we'd like our eggs cooked! Same hotel where John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent their Honeymoon in bed, incidentally...)

Sieze the moment! AL :)

If you look like you are supposed to be somewhere people will often assume you are supposed to be there. In the UK it is amazing what you can do if you put on a high viz jacket and carry a clipboard. :)
