Promised update of my outdoor air-con.. and " Lucky" pics

Post by cyprusmax47 »

As I promised to do an update concerning my new outdoor air-con, last post viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2144 here some facts:

The unit was more efficient with now higher temperatures than in the beginning when outdoors I measured 31.2c / 37% RH humidity and it was blowing with 26c at you. The best result in the last 4 days was (OK I was not checking every 5 minutes) with an outdoor 37.6 / 20% RH humidity and blowing with 29c on position 1 for the fan (1,2,3 available) When I run the fan on position 2 there was more air blowing with the same temperature in the output. Which means position 2 one can also use if the area is very large and you don't mind that it is more noisy. The fan, set on the highest (3) I would recommend if one wants to shift hot air, stuck IN the house, through a large sliding door, in the early hours of a day when outdoor temperature is some degrees lower than indoors. (which means one needs an indoor/outdoor thermometer.) Blowing in this position without the cooling function, it would need only 10 minutes to change the indoor temperature of your premises to a much lower level and save a lot of energy to keep it there. (air-conditioning on!) As this was very technical now just some pics again from Lucky how much more comfortable it is for her with the "Monster" running.

No need for a chain, she won't move...

As long as the fan is on I will sleep... :)

Max I truly love the pics of your amazing garden and your so beautiful dog. May I ask why she has a chain? It's a little strange for me, you may have a very good reason for it, just wondered?

There are some rats at the moment and the neighbour put poison around. I won't risk that she catches a poisoned rat, you never know. She knows to live with a chain. She was rescued from people as she suffered from being fixed on a large barrel with a 1 m string and no water under a tree.... :(
Normally I stay always at home (except Saturdays for lunch) and she is with me, otherwise she has to cope with the 10 m chain which I believe is better than a kennel of 3x3 meter. By the way: I was a dog trainer many many years ago working with the Police dog squad where I found out how clever and faithful Alsatians are. (before they were sent to Argentina)

Thanks Max, absolutely no implied criticism, just not understanding. I just knew you would be looking after your girl to the nth degree!

I have cats, 3 house cats and about a dozen ferals I feed. It's quite a pantomime sometimes, specially when the neighbours cats have worked out feeding times and swamp the back patio!!

Max..maybe I am being thick but can I ask what the Argentina reference ("before they were sent to Argentina") eludes to?

It is > 50 years ago when I was a dog handler. If I remember well there were several issues concerning sending dogs to Argentina.
The most important was that the dogs had the so called "red papers" to see that also the parents were free of, for example, hip problems in the past beside other criteria. Young dogs minimum age of 3 month were sent for training to Argentina while minimum 1 year old dogs were trained in Germany in English language. As soon they finished very strict exams in the 3 categories with a minimum of 97 points of 100 in each category they were ready to be flown abroad. None of the dogs were trained for narcotics (unknown then!) or for explosives (strict laws in Germany after the war) What I can remember that they were very interested that the dog was never ever afraid when you were attacked by a stranger and had his 100 points in this category. What I can also remember was the financial aspect. When one bought a dog with red papers as a puppy the price from a breeder was ca 600 DM, while a fully trained dog one year old in English language, one could achieve 5000 DM. Fully trained dogs for the German market were between 1500 and 2000 DM depending how many championships one could prove. I wonder how much would it be nowadays!

There were that time connections between German Police Force (Gov) and the Police in Argentina which paid crazy prices for excellent dogs from Germany and Belgium. For this reason locals had problems to get a good dog and one needed good connections with breeders to be successful. There was NO dog factory.. :!:

It is one week now since I got the unit delivered and the performance was better than expected in that heat. The lowest output temperature was 25c, while the highest was 29c. The whole environment ca 40 m2 (patio) feels much more comfortable not only for Lucky and me but also for a lot of other creatures which were hiding before. All kind of Lizards are after the butterflies which for a sudden are back and many birds as well... So perhaps I am able to do some more pics from them in the next days or so...

Hi Max

Will look forward to some pix of the wildlife that's sprung into action in your cooler spot on the patio. I think you gauged the delivery of the unit well, just in time for this sticky weather. :D

Just buy a blow pillow for £1 or £2 and fill with water and put in freezer for a few hours ? it works a treat :)
