Nicola Sturgeon Hanging On!

Post by ApusApus »

Looks like the lady is on the way out & doing a "swan song"! Clutching at straws to cling to power but the Scottish people will see through her!

I agree Apus, her popularity is on a slippery slope, she will however cling on as long as she can.

The reality, and her downfall is based on the fact that she has only temporarily suspended indyref 2.

The scots are canny and will see through this,

Another lady who had it all, and blew it!

Nicola Sturgeon isn't really backing away from independence – she's waiting for a terrible Brexit to do her job for her
By 2019, when Theresa May looks even more ragged than she looks now, Scottish people will be glad to go to the ballot box and vote for independence. Their currency will have fallen through the floor, a hard Brexit will be coming, and there'll be no Northern Irish £1bn coming along to make it all better
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/nic ... 10976.html

...So don’t take the headlines at face value. Claiming that Sturgeon has “shelved” the referendum is misleading at worst, and naive at best. The SNP without independence – the ultimate goal of nationalism, the party’s middle name – is like taking austerity away from Theresa May, or snatching immigration laws away from Ukip. The party becomes purposeless, rudderless without it. ....

If things continue the way they're going the Scots would be insane not to vote for independence in say 2019.

That of course depends on the government of the United Kingdom alllowing the ginger headed one (oops bit of racism there) to have another referendum.

Yes that was a bit racist....next you will be referring to Darkies.
Whilst I'm no fan of Nicola Sturgeon I have to say that should Mrs May's efforts not work why shouldn't she attempt to distance Scotland from that if she can?

I do not appreciate your comment about me referring to Darkies. You evidently would find racist comments in a discussion about cornflakes.
Nicola Sturgeon is on a mission to destroy the United Kingdom with her hatred.

Um, she found racism in a comment you labelled as racism yourself. She was agreeing with you.

If you are going to get offended, get offended at your own post.

Personally, I don't think labelling Nicola Sturgeon as ginger haired is racist. I just think it weakens whatever argument against her that you have. If the argument is so weak that you have to attack her hair colour, isn't it time to improve the quality of the argument?

I speak as somebody who is ambivalent to the outcome of Scotland's place in the world. It is there decision. I would however note that the Scottish government obviously looks after its population better than the UK government, if these tower block reports are anything to go by, so perhaps we should be trying to emulate them in some areas?

My just a thought: why the hell should everyone be forced to mute your uncouth posts? Much easier for you to be polite.

I guess you know where the mute, friend/foe button is, just a thought.
For once we agree, however it's about being polite. Now how's Scottish education under the SNP?

Very well....Nicola Sturgeon has refused to accept the majority decision of Scottish people that they wish to remain in the Union of the United Kingdom. She has done nothing except go on and on about getting a second referendum so the people of Scotland can once again decide if they want in or out of the united Kingdom. She is now back pedalling on her stance. Her party has lost a large number of seats in the UK parliamentary elections, including Salmond's, and perhaps Scotland is waking up, slowly, to the fact that she has one mantra.
I personally would give Scotland the chance to vote again as soon as possible, and if they vote out, well cheerio and I hope we can stay friends. If they vote stay however I would expect her to resign immediately as her raison d'etre would be buried. That, of course, would not happen as she is a politician and would come up with any number of reasons why she should remain at the helm. And, of course, all power to her elbow - should Scotland leave the UK - to re-joining the European Union.

I withdraw my comment about her hair colour, but if anyone accuses me of quoting darkie, then I will be sent straight to Pit because of my answer to that person. I am not a racist. I have worked with some of the kindest Hindus, African/Caribbeans, Muslims and whites. And I give not a flying fig for their colour.

I can understand why she would want a second referendum, as leaving the EU is a real game changer, for better or for worse. And while she lost a lot of seats, that was always inevitable (to an extent) since she had nearly swept the board in the previous election.

However, if she lost the second referendum, she should either give up, or just govern Scotland on the basis that they want to remain part of Britain.

So RW you find it strange that people like me who live in the UK should be bothered about the Scots having an Independence referendum? Do you not think that the rest of the UK should have a say in what would obviously affect them?
In addition you appear to have very strong views about the Tory party but we are not supposed to have strong views about the SNP?
Do you think that is a level playing field?

Those who live in England did not vote to have a referendum. It was those who live in the
- still - United Kingdom who voted to have a referendum. End of.

"Are you seriously suggesting that someone who lives in England should have a say in whether the Scots can determine their own future, rather than being governed from Westminster ?"

Can't speak for anyone else RW, but YES, I am!! For the simple reason, again, that it is the United Kingdom, not England and Scotland. Unless and until Sturgeon gets her way and the lemmings follow her and divide the Kingdom.

Deliberately or otherwise RW you are missing the point. Scotland is still part of the United Kingdom, whether you like it or not. Unless or until Sturgeon can persuade her lemmings to firstly follow her and then get permissiin from the United Kingdom Government to hold another referendum, then that is how it will stay.

There is no possibility of Scotland going it alone and staying in the EU, ain't happening. Not the least due to their economic situation. You are on record as praising Sturgeon for how wonderful Scotland is doing, that might be how you see it on the ground but it's not what the rest of the Economic World sees. Scotland is economically in deep doo doo, as is its bank, RBS. This alone would prevent them joining the EU.

Further, there is no way on earth the B of E would support Scotland in keeping the £ sterling and propping up a failing institution like RBS, so what currency would the Sturgeon plan on using I wonder, given that she doesn't have the collateral to join under her own steam??

Not the rosy picture you paint RW. Just a huge mess.

What I can't understand is why you think that only people who are Scottish & actually live in Scotland can voice an opinion on Scottish matters that is relevant .............. that is such a one dimensional view!
