Re: Bald tyres
I get much more mileage out of a tank of fuel running on bald tyres. Much less friction on the road.
We have seen large lorries with equally bald tyres, a real danger when it is wet.

I once went to a talk on tyre tech organised by GB Porsche club and an expert from Michelin, sounds dull but was very interesting. Bald tyres are superb in the summer - no tread equals max grip, but greater contact area increases fuel consumption, however the slightest hint of moisture is potentially lethal, especially under braking.

Another factor is that in some country areas of the greater Paphos region, it is common for the council to put tar on the road to fill in the cracks.
On the road out of Polemi to Kallepia this has been done, but there are now warning signs, speed limits and cones there. The surface of the tar is slippery, and on the bends could cause an accident..

He's obviously planning on wall to wall sun for the rest of the summer and has changed his wets to slicks.... just hope it doesn't rain, we all know what happens on the F1 track when the drivers start on slicks and it buckets down part way through the race.
Safety Car, anyone?
