Mailbox Flyers

Is there anyway to stop the allmost daily flyers for supermarkets, fast food and DIY etc. They never fit in the mailbox, and invariably end up being blown onto the road, the garden, or the bottom of our pool. If they are retrieved by me prior to their flight, they are soaked with the recent rainfall.
When not retrieved, they are a sure sign that no one is home, some neighbouring holiday property mail boxes are stuffed full of them, preventing their escape from the box, an open invitation to burglars.
I appreciate to some these flyers are useful, to me they are a nuisance, not least because my mail can be easily retrieved from the box if not closed due to the flyers.
Have looked for signs to put on the box stating I don't want the flyers, but could not find them!

You could try a sign on your mailbox in Greek and English "NO flyers or circulars".

We don't receive mail as all bills are e mailed or direct debit so I don't see the need for a box, the odd flyer gets thrown on the front step but very rare

I've no interest in them and remove them from the unoccupied houses in our street almost every week...

We get them from pool companies too... They all end up in the bin.

Round here, if you don't have a box, flyers get stuffed in any place that they can be fitted into ............ holes in fences, the swirls of wrought iron gates, dumped on the front porch!

On our complex we had a note from the Tala post department requesting that we have a mailbox with the names of the home owners on it!

The waste of paper must be phenomenal, surprised the Green Party have not cottoned on to this. We find flyers at the front, side and rear of our property.

Apart from that, all those flyers can help you a lot with learning more Greek words. Learn the alphabet and in the leaflets you find all the Greek words needed for your shopping.....

Field fires, hunting, barking dogs, bad driving, noisy neighbours, smoking in bars......and now those pesky leaflets, just what is this Country coming too?
OMG! A Cypriot just walked past my house wearing training shoes.....who can I complain to???

I like the barking dogs of Polemi. When we first moved here, on a saturday evening, I heard the church bells chime in the distance, and the dogs started howling in unison. I knew then I would definitely be happy here.

There are probably 6-8 door-to-door mailing companies in Cyprus that I'm aware of and probably a whole host more. While flyers can be an irritant for all the reasons given above, my wife and daughter avidly read the supermarket flyers and I invariably read those which come from electrical retailers, SuperHome, Paphos HomeMarket and Lidl (for non-food items). Daughter and son-in-law occasionally use the money-off coupons in flyers which come from pizza outlets. I also note details of tradespeople I might just need in the future. So the flyers we receive don't automatically go to waste.

If leaflets didn't work for vendors they wouldn't pay to have them distributed, it's as simple as that.

How much does it cost to flood somewhere like Pissouri with your pool brochures...?

You will be pleased to know that the Eastern end of the island-Deryneia- and its leaflet distribution system works and they are doing what they are paid to do at, as we received a flyer from your business last week!
I didn't need it so of course it was binned.
