It doesn't come as any surprise, given they said yesterday that a metal bar broke or was broken on the boat....

Any update as to how the guy is in Nicosia Hospital? Which beach area was the paraglide boat being operated from?

Re: Two arrested following sea sports accident
I assume, that one of two things happened, either the fixing on the boat broke, firing the metalwork into the air and hitting the two paragliders, which seems unlikely, unless they were close to the boat at the time.... or metalwork near their harness broke, hitting both individuals.
A very scary event.

I'm sure they're just going through the motions that must be followed with these kind of accidents.
It is extremely good news for all concerned that their licenses and insurance is all in order.

Tourist injured in parasailing accident still critical
The 35-year-old British tourist who was seriously injured in a parasailing accident in Paphos last week is still in critical condition and intubated at the Nicosia General Hospital, police told the Cyprus Mail on Tuesday.
The accident happened on June 6 at around 12.45pm when two British tourists, a 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who had rented a boat to go parasailing, were struck by a metal bar, which had broken off the boat.
The man was rushed to Nicosia general hospital in critical condition after he suffered a brain haemorrhage and was diagnosed with a severe neck injury, jaw and rib fractures.
The 25-year-old woman has a fractured nose and cheek injury. Her condition was not life threatening and she was admitted to Paphos general hospital mainly as a precaution.
Two men were arrested and remanded for three days, the 49-year-old owner of the water sports rental which the tourists used and a 34-year-old employee who operated the boat.
After their three-day remand, the two men were charged with negligent and reckless actions and were released.
