Regarding exchanging money at the kiosks. I changed Euros for UK pounds at one of the harbour kiosk about 4 weeks ago.
The UK money I was given was £50 notes.
However when I came to spend them in the UK they were refused as they were the old ones..

The old notes ie. The £50 banknote carrying the portrait of the first governor of the Bank of England Sir John Houblon have been withdrawn from circulation.

Well, I never knew that. Apparently the Houblon £50 notes were withdrawn from circulation on 30 April 2014 and can only be exchanged at the Bank of England.

Austin 7.
Or perhaps some UK fraudsters conning the Harbour kiosks?
I have seen your type of comment before and to be honest I don't understand it.
I have used the Cy-dive square kiosks umpteen times over the last 4 years (visiting 3/4 times a year) and have never had any problems.
I wouldn't even think nowadays of coming over with more than 100 euros bought locally but bring sterling to exchange at these kiosks for a much superior rate than I can get here!

Years ago I went trekking in Nepal. I have a large head and have problems buying a hat. I spent ages looking for one in Kathmandu before finally finding a carpet shop that sold these weird, large hats made out of something like carpet material. So I bought one.

What I had forgotten, was that carpet shops in Kathmandu were where most of the illegal currency conversions happened. If a Westerner went into one, he only wanted to change currency. It took me a long time to convince them that I didn't want to change currency, but that I actually wanted to buy a hat.

Trans am, it's usually 2 cents below the mid-market rate so it's probably around 1.13/1.14 to the £. Not great :(
Just my guess. Someone might be able to give you a more definite figure.
