In this video there is a picture of Bird playing a white alto sax. This was a Grafton and at the time was the largest single piece plastic mould ever made. It actually had a sweet sound and inspired me to take up the sax. I bought a Grafton and played it for some years in my youth before it was lodged in the loft. Many years later I sold it very profitably as there were few Graftons left and their value had increased as they were wanted in any condition for spare parts. People like Charlie Carolli used them in their acts but of course if dropped they would smash, hence the demand.

As a sax (alto) player myself I found that interesting Pete. Heard of Grafton but did not know they produced a serious instrument made from plastic
